Coleco Rambo: The Force of Freedom General Warhawk! Ruthless terrorist, archenemy of Rambo, wearer of a particularly boss pair of sunglasses. Commands the forces of S.A.V.A.G.E. in his quest for power and evil and stuff

M.C. Toy Motorized Robot Dump Truck! Surprisingly fun with real rubber tyres and a diecast metal cab to add a sheen of quality. Owes a bit of a debt to Gobots Dumper but not an overt ripoff. Has lips that are as full as their dump bed

Transformers Sky High! Super cool copter. One of the few Dreamwave retcons I like was the explanation why his bio said he was dumb despite an 8 intelligence stat & loquacious motto - he’s so lost in his own mind that he’s rendered useless (relatable). So out of it that a Micromaster stole his name!

Thundercats Miniatures S-S-Slithe! Just like his big brother there are a ton of colour variants thanks to being released by different companies in different countries. One IGA version is huge! He’s based on the animation model & has the headdress that the LJN figure lacks

M.C. Toy Motorized Robot Loco! Cheap & cheerful choo-choo! Every 80s Transformers kid had at least one of these M.C. Toy bad boys. The train mode is actually quite nice, robot mode isn’t *that* bad and the way the “Dyno Drive” acts as both a pull-back engine and a stand in robot mode is handy

Transformers Finback! The Decepticons already had a mer-beast Pretender but he’s so cool that you don’t mind the doubling up. His bio says that his robot form is a walking wreck & falling to bits which seems at odds with how sleek & sexy he is but on the bright side it makes junker copies accurate

Thundercats Miniatures Cheetara! She has a battle-ready stance that suggests that she’s done running and is ready to kick some Mutant butt. She’s impressively spotty for such a small figure, especially on her back. Nice they didn’t try to… CHEAT on paints apps

Party at mine later. Help yourself to winky rings and blowouts from the selection of Transformers G1 party supplies from Unique! Plates, cups, tablecloth, loot bags, blow outs and… winky rings (obviously a WILD party)

Thundercats Miniatures Tigra! It is subtle but you can tell that this mini master of mind power is based on the first “young” LJN figure by the rounded lump of hair in the middle of the head that neither the animation model or 2nd figure has. The bolo whip only has two strands like the LJN figure

NECA Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Kelek! Back in the 80s LJN completely redesigned skinny Kelek into a colourful chonker with added Mohawk & a reptile theme for the 2nd series (the extra bulk allowing battle-matic action to be added). Sadly the figure never came out but NECA made a recreation in 2022

LJN Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Kelek! The evil sorcerer Kelek is both sinister and stylish in his cleverly designed robes. Managed to wangle a pretty substantial guest spot in the cartoon

Transformers Generation 2 Party Pak by Unique! Not quite brightly coloured enough for a truly G2-themed experience but I’m sure it would Jazz up your party. Always tempted to open it to get a better look at the tablecloth though from experience they are quite difficult to fold up again nicely

Thundercats Miniatures Hachiman! Hachiman is based on his animation model rather than the LJN toy (you can tell by the different helmet design, only 1 purple bar on the chest, long armour flaps instead of pantaloons). The enlarged version has more detailed boots. As a kid I gave his sword to Teela

Transformers Generation 2 Play Pack from Grandreams! Four “colouring and activity books” featuring UK G2 promo art and a small packet of non-toxic wax crayons to colour with. Some fun interior scenes to colour. I particularly like Prime crashing into Megatron

Sparkabot Sizzle vs Sparkler Minibot Sizzle! Sizzle’s colours were swapped with Fizzle’s in the Marvel UK Transformers comics. You can make a MUK Sizzle by swapping parts between the G1 & G2 toys. Harder than it looks as the back wheels are pinned on. Donor G2 Sizzle ends up looking a bit odd

Transformers Bugly! Ironically Bpretty. A Pretender master of martial arts a year before it was cool. Unusually the shell doesn’t have its own melee weapon, seems his antennae ate the budget. The comic occasionally had him use a gun as an axe which isn’t in his instructions but could be intentional

Thundercats Remote Control Thundertank by Buddy L! Beautiful little Thundertank that scales quite nicely with the Kidworks Miniatures & LJN Cat’s Lair. A lot more show accurate than the LJN version (stickers aside) it even features a pop-out nose cannon. Fun to drive around too! #vintagetoytuesday

Transformers Slog! Utterly adorable shell, utterly nightmarish inner robot (gold plastic scarier than fangs). Has perhaps the greatest function in Transformers - “combat artist” as he uses his weird tentacle arms to slice Autobots into Slogism artwork (Scrapper did it 1st but didn’t get an -ism)

Thundercats Miniatures Wily-Kit & Wily-Kat! These mini Thunderkittens were only available in a few South American countries. These slightly enlarged & fully painted versions are the best looking & rarest of the different versions (most common are the unpainted Unitoys variants) #vintagetoytuesday

LJN Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Zorgar! An evil barbarian with a clubbing action as mighty as his body odour. Wears the same blue mail as Warduke and a baldric straight from the Klingon surplus shop. Looks a bit like he’s wearing a doctor’s head mirror

If you're in the mood for some nostalgic 80s toys, have a peek at my Etsy shop www.etsy.com/shop/outofth... Use code: BLUESKY for 35% Off of the original price until July5

Transformers Scowl! Signed up to be a Pretender because his dinky inner robot creature mode was too cute to scare anybody (can we PLEASE get Bob Budiansky back on bio writing duty? I miss stuff like this) though I’m not sure the toothy rock bunny Pretender shell is any less adorable

Thundercats Miniatures Grune the Destroyer! He’s one of the minis that is based on the LJN fig rather than the animation model & features the same inaccurate colours (though I think the red, black & silver are nicer than the show colours). His club is cute. Sadly there’s no lil Jaga for him to fight

LJN Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Hook Horror! Nine feet of vulture-beaked fury with thick armour and a mean right hook (and left hook, for that matter). They hunt in packs and are sick of eating cave fungus for sustenance. They are hungry for warm meat, will you be it?

Rock Lords Narlibaboon! For years this was my white whale, eluding me whilst disaster struck as I tried to obtain it. Got one in the end though! If you push it along the ground this hairy beast wiggles its big pink bottom in the air whilst making happy grunting noises (insert “your mom” joke here)

Transformers Wildfly! The Pretender Monsters have wonderfully imaginative & very alien shells and Wildfly here is one of the best. A sort of simian reptilian insectoid… thing. Colours are wild! Inner creature looks like a baby Cutthroat & I really like the robot mode (also incredibly Cutthroat-ish)

Thundercats Miniatures Panthro! This petite Panthro is just as cool as his bigger brother. The slightly enlarged version produced by IGA has a bit of an egg head and they didn’t paint the blue half of his nunchucks like on the standard version

Part of my “desperately trying to manifest winter”-series its Transformers Energon Snowcat! (plus special guests Iceberg & Armorhide). A GI Joe homage that wasn’t marketed as such he’s pretty damn sweet. Even has the windscreen wiper effect! Wish the current Crossovers would do a full-scale one

Transformers Bristleback! His bio says that this pointy potty mouth has to stay inside his Pretender shell due to his inner robot form being highly susceptible to rust. Funnily enough it’s not a good idea to take him out of his shell though the real life reason is far worse - Gold Plastic syndrome!

Thundercats Miniatures Reptilian! This more lithe Slithe is based on one of the generic Mutants that appeared in early episodes & is unique to the Kidworks line, sadly LJN didn’t make a big one. Colour & size variants help with army building. Easy to miss that it has a tail snaking down one leg

LJN Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Zarak! This evil half-orc assassin is wonderfully skeevy-looking. Easy to imagine him leaping out to shiv victims in the gut. He was rereleased in the 2nd series with a battle-matic stabbing action for happy playtime murder fun. Predates the Transformers Zarak!

Transformers Birdbrain! Looks like he scanned a Power Rangers villain suit when making his shell. Aside from a vague beak his inner creature isn’t very birdy (& definitely not sauropod-y for Rairyu either). His bio describes him as a Micromaster hunter & he does look like he eats them for breakfast
