I talk about advertising, unionisation, and gaming a lot. I have fur babies and food comas. Prone to an occasional rant (soz).

This isn't the era to be performatively offended. This is when you need to think your arguments through and back them up. Sorry to sound patronising, but we let this happen by being shit at making sound arguments. The performative 'gotcha' crap has to end if we are going to be taken seriously.

Yeh the world is fucked but check out this curious bug.

Black Doves is rather good. And Keira is fabulous in it. I’ve never really warmed to her performances that much, but she’s excellent in this show. Maybe she was just taking the wrong roles?

Here are two cosy-looking games for Steam players looking to opt out of all the madness this year. 1. Over The Hill. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFi3...

I can't quite get my head around how radically nationalist Americans are accepting a foreigner dictating policies inside their country.

Just want to quickly check in with other Liverpoool fans. We're not saying too much right now, right? We're trying to play it cool, right?

It would be interesting to think about the evolutionary relationship between frequencies and emotion, especially in the context of why these specific notes evoke specific emotional responses. Fascinating stuff. www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqWo...

I love my decent American brothers and sisters dearly but as a European, this is the conversation we need to be having. And a lot of these kinds of conversations need to be fast-tracked. All bets are off, frankly. We're now fighting existential threats here. www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJii...

I don’t get it.

Are there any brands doing social well that aren't super "look at this product you stupid consumer" or begging Gen Z to love them or cringy trend surfing for adland validation? I can't find a single brand doing social in a way that doesn't make me immediately want to throw my phone in a wet ditch.

How to write believably good dialogue: "It's the sheer fuck-off-ness of it all, am I right?" www.youtube.com/watch?v=lT7F...

I miss Freddie. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqMU...

7 months of very little work to suddenly being quadruple booked. I think the market has woken up, finally.

Jeeze. 👀 Someone throw a pie or something... 🤷‍♂️ ammmirightt? 🤪

Am I the only one who finds the Duolingo brand as annoying and cringy as the Ryan Reynolds one-dimensional shtick? It’s almost as vacuous as the brand circle jerks that happen every so often when social media managers do too much coke and tweet each other forgetting nobody gives a fuck.

I'm here to tell you again that A24 is the only film studio making interesting films at the moment. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuiW...

I really want some Walton Goggins Goggle Glasses.

I remember around the second Iraq war looking at a similar chart and wondering about the incentives this places on Western governments. And round and round we go as civilians inevitably suffer. Preparation for war is as lucrative as war itself.

I'm looking for a chart (probably IPA/Effworks) that shows how social works worse in isolation but better in combination with other channels (particularly TV). Think it's a few years old now. Ring any bells?

You'll fall in love with people watching this. The love they feel when someone shares in their culture. The spontaneous generosity of their reactions. it's so hard to separate us when we understand each other. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofGq...

We're the Apple of creative agencies..... No, not the cool product design stuff. We mean the Chinese sweatshop factories with the nets around the roof to catch workers who try to commit suicide.

Christ. People are doing a whole "let's repost the boobs guy and have a debate about it" over on the job acting website. We're a fucking mess, aren't we?

My latest rant about intentionality and craft in the context of creativity. How much of this is lost to people who claim to work in the creative industry pisses me off. Anyway, listen to some more artists talk about exactly this and learn something. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mewd...

It's interesting that content creators deliberately use AI-sounding voices for VO on social videos and not AI actors who sound exactly like people. Because they could do that... I wonder if people are actually in agreement about preserving our humanity, and it starts with our voices.

Anyone who considers themselves a 'creative' or with aspirations to work around creativity should enjoy this interview. There's something about intentionality with the people at the very top of "their game", as Daniel puts it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qk8o...

I think after many years of thinking about this and debating it with myself, I think I'm ready to say In Rainbows is as good as OK Computer. I don't think one is better than the other. I think they are effectively two of the greatest albums ever created and Radiohead's best albums, technically.

This is amazing. Watching someone who understands music discovering Radiohead and unpacking the songwriting in real-time. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fi7S...

As far as made-up statistics about a made-up thing go, this is how to make 'em.
