Been trying to figure out what's happened to Lukas Reichel in Chicago. I even wrote about it at @eliteprospects.com a few months ago, and why I still had hope that he can be a success story www.eliteprospects.com/news/fantasy...

i do a bit of non-hockey writing sometimes and think i'm gonna start a series for this summer. here is the first one 98 Seconds: Visual Storytelling in 'Rear Window' cliffyshellholedesigns.design.blog/2025/04/04/9...

Been re-watching the recent season of Black Mirror so I could get a feel for the entire series. Think this is my tiers of episodes, but the thing is that any episode in the B-Tier or above is a legitimately great episode. Some are just greater than others

In calendar 2025, Jeff Skinner has played 235 minutes at 5v5 *without* McDavid or Draisaitl. In those minutes: 56.3% shot attempt share 56.3% expected goal share 61.9% goal share (+11/-7) In all his 5v5 minutes, 2nd by points/60 and 1st by goals/60 among EDM forwards.

As things stand, Jordan Kyrou is 1 of 10 forwards with 30-goal/30-assist seasons in each of the last three years. Others close for this year: Matthews (1 goal) Ovechkin (3 assists) Aho (2 goals) Crosby (3 goals) Hintz (2 goals) Larkin (2 goals)

obviously didn't watch the game, but I see Conor Timmins had another good game for the Penguins. Timmins has been great since the trade and I wrote about him, and others, earlier this week in the '10 Stats' newsletter substack.com/home/post/p-...

One trade I still don't understand is San Jose shipping out Walman. Like, I get it from a trade balance perspective (got him for nothing, get a late-first on his way out), but he is, at worst, a #3 dman and has another year on his contract. The Sharks don't have a single dman worth a fuck otherwise

Using @evolving-hockey.com's EV goal differential and expected goals differential, here are the centre comps for Quinton Byfield: This year: Auston Matthews Last 2 years: Phil Danault and Nico Hischier Last 3 years: Joel Eriksson Ek Age-20 through Age-22 seasons since 2013: Brayden Point

Of course it's just 11 games, but this is a pretty fun comparison group for Logan Stankoven in Carolina by primary points, shot attempts, and expected goals per 60 minutes at 5v5:

good read on MTL's post-Four Nations playoff push from @shaynagoldman.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/athletic/625...

this morning's Ramblings has been updated with the fantasy performances from the late games. also has injury updates on Malkin and Kaprizov, as well as changes in performance from some players that may be playoff-bound dobberhockey.com/2025/04/03/r...

It’s Wednesday and you know what that means

55% CANADA 55% FRANCE 55% MEXICO 55% PERU 55% GERMANY 55% SPAIN

As far as New Year’s resolutions go, my ‘Don’t live through a Great Depression’ made it further than most resolutions from prior years. Alas,

The stories from border towns and coastal vacation spots this summer are going to be a horror show

was looking through the AllThreeZones tracking to see which forward is having a season stylistically the closest to Mason McTavish. Did not expect to come up with Sebastian Aho

who is your favourite reaction after the Suzuki game-tying goal last night. for me it's this guy because he reminds me of the college kid who saw the girl smash a beer can on her head then chug it

I suppose there are worse outcomes for the Vilardi-less WPG top line than turning into a checking line with Iafallo

by opponent pts%, MTL has the 2nd easiest schedule remaining: BOS, PHI, NSH, DET, OTT, TOR, CHI, CAR. NYR technically has the 5th hardest schedule but two of those games are this week vs. MIN and NJD, two teams missing a lot of key pieces to their lineups. MIN and NJD are 37-36-6 since Christmas.

Interesting quotes from Patrick Roy w/r/t Anthony Duclair because the Islanders are 31st by goals/60 at 5v4 and 29th by goals against/60 at 4v5 this season. Their special teams GF/GA per game is about as bad as San Jose's www.espn.co.uk/nhl/story/_/...

Oh my god Suzuki

this week's '10 Stats' newsletter looks at Washington's depth, changes that STL, TOR, and SJS have made defensively, Jake Allen's second-half performance, and more substack.com/home/post/p-...

if there's anything I'm taking from the first few Jays games it's that the top of the bullpen (Garcia, Hoffman, Little) has looked really good. *hopefully* Green can settle in and the late innings aren't super stressful this year. hopefully!

Sunday's Righteous Gemstones might be the hardest I've laughed at a TV show since the most recent season of I Think You Should Leave.

this morning's Ramblings have been updated with the late-game fantasy performances. injury/signing updates and a look at the recent history hot/cold teams heading into the playoffs dobberhockey.com/2025/04/01/r...

Given the last decade, I don’t say this lightly: this is truly one of the wildest sentences I have ever seen

1) From 2019-2023, @evolving-hockey.com has Andrei Svechnikov and Jesper Bratt with similar even-strength goal/expected goal differentials 2) over the last 2 seasons, Bratt's rates resemble Forsberg and Kyrou 3) over the last two seasons, Svech's rates resemble Trent Frederic and Gustav Nyquist

We’ve got the first full week of the MLB season, a tight NHL playoff race, the Final Four, and an AEW PPV. It’s a good week

Went to see Death of a Unicorn and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Is it subtle? No, a horror-comedy featuring rich people that want to harvest unicorns and in turn the unicorns want to murder them is not subtle. It is really fucking funny though and the entire cast crushes it.

Something to keep in mind when looking at the Wild Card standings: NYR has the regulation win tiebreaker over all the teams in that playoff race so any of MTL/CBJ/NYI/DET needs to clear NYR's point total outright to make the postseason.
