I've never seen anything more relatable than this.

Will it ever be anything but extremely cool to see my book like this? I wrote that! I'm so proud 🥲

On my way to Glasgow to do a lovely event for wee ones and their families at the Mitchell Library 🥰🌈

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Spotlight on Issue 3 contributor @rosamundtaylor.bsky.social Full issue available from our stockists & online www.the4facedliar.com/shop

Valentine's Day doesn't have to be about the big spectacle. Whether you're with someone or with your own good self, stay true to the story you want, unfolding in its own time.

no the fuck we are NOT making “LGBQ+” a thing and if I see any of you motherfuckers using that acronym it’s on sight Marsha P. Johnson did not smash in the windshield of a police car for this

The Stonewall Inn released a response to the National Parks Service removing the word transgender from the park outside of the Inn. A great reminder that we have to look after each other

If you are thinking of nominations for awards, and you enjoyed one of my short stories from last year, please consider nominating one! @strangehorizons.bsky.social @lunapress.bsky.social

Robin has been breaking things a lot lately (glasses, milk bottles, tv monitors 😬), so in my never-ending quest to address difficult behaviours by finding alternative ways to fulfill the underlying need, our sensory play today was smashing apart colourful blocks of ice with a hammer 😅

Women writers of Edinburgh, this looks like a fantastic opportunity! Paid desk residency at the Edinburgh Writers Museum, supported by Edinburgh City of Literature and the @societyofauthors.bsky.social. Info: cityofliterature.com/mary-ratclif...

Every time you see a story in the media announcing that puberty blockers are banned, it's untrue. They've just been banned for trans kids. Cis kids who are in distress because of precocious puberty still get them. Trans kids who in distress, don't. People, generally, don't know that.

I can read young children's handwriting and spelling better than Santa himself due to all the creative writing sessions and I hope it's a skill I never lose.

"Hope is like a snowbell, it lives in the hardest of times. Its strong snowpetals stand strong, and life does not disappear and wilt away. It will live all the time. And when the spring comes it wilts and dies leaving seeds. The seeds will re-awaken. Hope never dies." By Toby, age 8.

Here's something cool to set the world a little bit to rights: get Palestinian art to the Fringe! Donate and spread the word to help platform Palestinian artists, and form a network to provide in-kind support, mentoring, venue space and guidance. www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/welcome-to...

I like that idea from Rilke that beauty happens on the threshold of comprehensible terror. "For beauty is nothing but the beginning of terror which we are barely able to endure, and it amazes us so, because it serenely disdains to destroy us. Every angel is terrible."

A Colourwork cowl inspired by the work of Rilke: “Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue." ― Rainer Maria Rilke #knitsky #knit

I have been one acquainted with the noot.

Do you go to the theatre? Do you care about Palestinian art and culture? Do you want the Edinburgh Fringe to be an internationalist platform where Palestinan artists can be seen and celebrated? Then give these people your money, they need it! www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/welcome-to...

My young writers were writing pieced inspired by Robert Burns today, in honour of Burns Night! One of my favourites of the day was this reimagining of A Red, Red Rose by Damian, age 10. "My ego is like an orchid. So frail and poisonous. So easy to hurt but not possible to kill."

My young creative writers were writing sonnets today. We played rhyme and rhythm games to warm up, then read example sonnets from different time periods, in different styles and on different subjects, before writing our own. Here are some featuring snow, Greek mythology, cats and mice, and robots.

Our #HomeEd today with Robin. We've been doing some marble painting, some skittle maths and fine motor skills, and lots and LOTS of sensory play 😄
