My ass (i.e. “the old V8”)

Not offending ppl's aesthetic sensibilities is easier than appealing to the many individual tastes out there, unfortunately

That one song that’s so good but is more of a sub 1.5 minute interlude 😭

Texting the exes that I now weigh 500 lb

I know my questions well & I know what aren’t right answers to them

Having to do the most tedious bullshit work. So fuggin bored

"X led to Y in the past. So, if we ever do X again, it will inevitably lead to Y."

In most cases, those who don't try to grab power when the opportunity arises do so more-so out of cowardice than virtue. Not to say that this isn't a psychological quirk that leads to good outcomes.

Trump is an egotistical sonbitch, but in certain respects, his "model" of himself is less dangerous than Musk's. Musk likes to be viewed as a kinda Nikola Tesla-esque brainiac, which is inevitably threatened by pushback from other professionals, specialists, etc.

there are certain ppl whose vibes are so bad that no matter how good their takes or ideas on something is, they do more harm to the adoption of their purported views by mere association.

How/Why did Georgists end up using the Shoshinsha (i.e. the Japanese beginner) emoji 🔰 online?

It's so interesting to see where different ppl choose to draw the line when it comes to compromising their moral compass, principles, etc. Not a dunk or an endorsement of Nikki Haley or her FP views; it's just genuinely interesting to see what carries real normative weight for ppl & what doesn't

see posts like this on twitter whenever vax discourse crops up on the TL. Feels like an entire ideology based on fundamental statistical misunderstandings

I think it's a little more complex than that -- I'd bet that ppl would enjoy federated & decentralized platforms, but 1. these platforms are often counter-intuitive & setting up one's own is a huge drag 2. the ppl who initially gravitated towards these platforms were often fringe communities...

I don't think it's "pointless" -- there are things that are hard to capture in clear-cut metrics -- but this anti-GDP "argument" is (usually) a lazy caricature of economics and economic policy, & is deployed so as to shirk-off having to reckon with empirical reality

What is one to do when there is no common axiological ground & when one never was nor can ever achieve the status of an atomic cogito?

Reactionaries, far right-wingers, fascists, nazis, etc. are often particularly satanic in this respect (or maybe, more honest w/themselves?): The goal isn't to win insofar as it's to punish. There's more glee in discussing the punishment/loss of enemies than the ideal state that's supposed to follow

This isn't even effective PR -- SPITE is the god of the times & it is so all-pervasive and intoxicating that ppl will annihilate themselves in its thrall.

Beautiful

Shirt covered in hot sauce

you can fight fire w/a wee bit of fire -- it's a "controlled burn" -- e.g. capitalists placating a disgruntled populace w/some socialist policies to stave-off a full slide.

The attempt to wed environmentalism to austerity (e.g. degrowth) is laughably counterproductive — economic pressure would lead to a whiplash back to cheaper less environmentally friendly policies

turned off text notifications & having been putting my phone on silent or Do Not Disturb mode more often -- loving it, but it's been getting my ass into trouble too. smdh

Terms become so bloated & over-applied to the point of meaningless until they collapse & then can be meaningfully reapplied again (if something else hasn’t already taken their originally meaningful place)

Trump is an example of someone who reckons with the law but doesn't believe in the "spirit of the law" -- and this is/was analogously apparent in his no-holds-barred approach to business where frivolous lawsuits & actions beyond the conventional business realm, etc. were/are used

Really interested in the idea of cloaked austerity, where cash is put into things that "squeezes demand" -- would be hard to determine the degree of the effect such events have, especially if GDP goes up nonetheless, even if at a blunted rate.
