Seems almost certain that Medicaid expansion will be targeted for cuts. 20 million people (nearly 1/4 of Medicaid recipients) receive coverage bc of expansion. A family of 4 making $30-$40k will lose coverage. They can't afford the $17k avg premium of a non-subsidized health ins plan. Call Congress!

Congress is about to cut #Medicaid by $880 billion. CALL THESE REPS. They are vulnerable--close margins in their elections and with lots of people in Medicaid in their districts. You may call the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121. List below. Call now and all day tomorrow. 1/

#USA: "We urge the US government to immediately resume funding of critical humanitarian and health aid, either through rescinding relevant orders freezing funding or expanding the current narrow humanitarian waiver to cover all necessary health and humanitarian programs." - @avrilbenoit.bsky.social

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

No matter the age, allowing people to become #homeless is a policy choice and a moral failing of our society. We manufactured this crisis. (3 min read, worth your time). www.npr.org/sections/sho...

This story is absolutely maddening, but showcases an important facet to not overlook: the antivax movement relies on litigation bc a) their claims on science grounds have been repeatedly debunked & b) the evidence bar is lower for arguing cause (vs. scientific standards). lawsky 🛟🧪medsky policysky

Happy to share a recent publication that my colleagues and I authored. Not quite in time for the elections but ever so timely. academic.oup.com/healthaffair... Politicians, power, and the people's health... #EditorsChoice #HAScholar

“Election results may foretell (1) worsening health profiles in states with high or rising conservatism and (2) potential challenges to maintaining or improving the better health outcomes in more liberal states, given the national Republican trifecta.”

our new study is now available open access, please check it out:

"An assault on harm reduction in the province that will cost untold lives." 10 sites to be shut down under new legislation averted over 1,500 overdoses in 2022/3. Vital associated services, like drug checking, will also be lost. Matthew Bonn reports:

This is beyond insane. It throws millions of veterans onto the street without health care, guts and destroys one of the premier biomedical research institutions in the world (the NIH). Trump and his appointees are know-nothing zealots, radicals without reason or judgment.

Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, Donald Trump’s NIH pick who advocated mass COVID infection for herd immunity, wrote an “economic case against Medicare for all” in April 2020 for the Cato Institute. Hilariously, Jimmy Dore and other “leftists” have embraced this guy as a hero.

there are very serious problems with police violence and accountability throughout Canada and in response

Nat'l sample of 325 health plans on govt insurance marketplaces: nearly 1/3 didn't have PrEP on their lists of covered preventive services. Btwn 20 & 30% of PrEP users w/ commercial ins. had to pay for it despite the coverage mandate--an avg. 2022 cost of $227 per the CDC. health policy 🛟 Medsky
