As a rule of thumb, if there's a difference between (a) "how I'd expect to be treated as an emigrant" and (b) "how I expect migrants to my country to be treated" and (b) is worse than (a)... you might not be racist but you're definitely an arsehole.

If a fraction of influencers and celebrities spent as much time talking about Respectable men in suits that are suffocating us all for profit and power instead of the "Untalked-About" topic of immigration that gets yapped about non-stop, energy might start being pointed in the right direction.

Ireland has plenty money and plenty room. How resources are being allocated or withheld from the public good is the problem. That is not the fault of anyone who needs shelter/ healthcare / etc, whether they were born here or not. Plenty money. Plenty space.

I won't pretend that Amazon's launch of a .ie site is not a threat to many small (and medium sized) businesses here. It is. But if I could ask Irish people to do one thing - don't assume that whatever you're buying will always be cheaper there. A monopoly is in no one's interest. #speirgorm
