Update: Farm Bill passed the subcommittee and heads for the full Appropriations committee vote. Rep Harris runs the subcommittee, and he's been against hemp and marijuana for a long time. Not sure I see Tom Cole stopping it either.

Sorry, meant to include this earlier, but, just for the record (and yes he does this alot): the Trump WH is pulling another fast one, saying that his 2024 election had a "mandate" to clean up hemp-derived cannabinoids. Trump didn't make *any* comments about hemp during the campaign.

It gets high-falutin' really fast, but the point of saying Cannabis Is Weird is because it doesn't really fit any of our categories of goods/products. It's a commodity crop, a source for pharmaceuticals, an aid, a recreational retail good, a botanical flower, etc. Shoehorning it is presumptuous.
