Yesterday the baby attended (remotely) a meeting at the National Theatre. Today she goes to her first parent and baby group. Naturally she is currently dressed, fed, fragrant; I look insane and have yet to drink water.

it’s important to find time in your day to just switch your mind off and do nothing. it might be first thing in the morning, it might be last thing at night, or - and this is surprisingly popular - it might be when you get to the ticket barriers at waterloo. just take care of yourself, guys.

ChatGPT is down but The Museum of English Rural Life still stands, proving once again that Silicon Valley cannot compete with the history of rural England and its people.

I’m at O’Hare airport, where, 14 years ago this week, instead of getting on my flight home, I exited the airport, took the blue line back into the city to chase down a man I had met that weekend and totally fallen for. Anyway now we’ve been married for 11 years and have 8yo twins.

Just took my baby for a walk by myself for the first time (she was >10 weeks premature). Absolutely elated. High as kite. Not just because she will sleep in a moving pram (otherwise really hates anything that’s not On A Person during the day). We met another mum and baby! It was great!

Watched this documentary tonight and am obsessed.

A thread of London documentaries currently on BBC iPlayer from the 1950s to 1990s. Well worth a look... (1/18) 🧵

Oh my god, have I just successfully transferred my baby to the bassinet without waking her? Am I now lying awake and wired, defeating the entire object of doing so? We may be 2 for 2!! But am genius. Have outwitted the tiny one (for now).

You know you can just not use AI, right? You can make a choice not to be part of this. Even if your job uses it, YOU don’t have to in your normal life. You don’t have to let your kids use it. You didn’t have it three years ago. You can just…be on Team Human. You can choose.

I am wearing a striped tshirt and my baby is having a full on psychedelic experience about the black and white pattern.

Target's bold "Pride" collection this year features a colorless hoodie with the words "Out Loud & Proud" written teeny tiny only the string.

My baby has just BIFFED me in the chin, good job she is perfection

I have to point this out: international undergraduate students generally pay full freight at US universities, which means they effectively subsidize higher education for Americans; we *export* higher ed. Full freight at Harvard is ::checks:: $86,926 per year.

Unless I’m very mistaken, which past form would suggest reasonably likely, it’s twenty years ago today that The Thick of It was first broadcast. This means that Ollie Reader is now 43 and, I would imagine, writing speeches about immigration for Keir Starmer.

www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/news/the-nex... BOOM. So excited about this. Look at what @nationaltheatre.org.uk has planned for your delight. I am so excited about these plays old & new & honoured to be on board!

In wonderful and bonkers news, I am now an Artistic Associate @nationaltheatre.org.uk — it’s been a dream so far and it’s a great joy to see it announced! www.broadwayworld.com/westend/arti...

"It was listening to radio that gave me the urge to be an actor." Ronald Pickup on his role as #Hamlet in 1971 (being repeated this Sunday). The importance of #RadioDrama is clear - without it, where will the next generation of actors come from if they don't have access to theatre? #SADatTheBBC

Murder Must Advertise or Have His Carcase by Dorothy L Sayers; The Quest for Queen Mary, Pope-Hennessy (sp?), Christie’s The ABC Murders, Alan Coren’s journalism, the short plays of Caryl Churchill, any George Herbert, also weirdly I look up various reasonably obituaries and re-read them. Mitford.

I've just delivered TEXTILE SHAKESPEARE to the press. 14 years, on & off, 170K words (ahem), 24 colour plates, & a considerable portion of my heart & soul. So many dear friends have contributed & supported along the way❤️a good while until it's in print, but in the meantime, please enjoy this smock

Trying to make a list of Early Modern theatre people associated with violent crime (however loosely). So far: Jonson, Marlowe, Knel/Towne, Gabriel Spenser, John Day, Henry Porter, the Burbages, Thomas Watson — would welcome other names, please!

One side of this "memento mori" features a human face crawling with worms and insects; the other side shows a skull - the flesh eaten away. Date unknown. This unusual object is from the Wellcome Collection in London.

That's my emotional support exquisitely crafted sentence that does nothing to advance my argument

Librarians! We want to organise an English: Shared Futures roundtable on the role of libraries & librarians in English teaching (lang, lit, creative writing & more). Would love to hear from school, university & public librarians who might be up for being part of it. www.englishsharedfutures.org/cfp

Funeral instruction of the day: When Thomas Cherell made his will in 1540, he wanted those who attended his burial to each receive 'one Spice bune and a Cake' 🍰

Did Livi just say she felt “totally defleeted”? #TheTraitors #Traitors

Minah should be studied at GCSE ... art #TheTraitors

I’d be a wonderful Traitor because I wouldn’t care but also a terrible one because I would just murder people who annoyed me #TheTraitors #Traitors

“your point has come from random” no Livi, Freddie’s point has come from Minah. “No one is stitching you up”, Minah is in fact stitching you up I AM LIVING #Traitors #TheTraitors
