I continue to write tiny essays on personal style as a relief from everything out there. Today an artist/designer who makes clothes which are utterly transparent about their provenance www.instagram.com/p/DGDh6QWtTT...

I went to the library to read old Vogues today and didn’t expect a gut punch like this - editors letter from July 1945 “We have learned that national isolation means international chaos, and war … if we have not learned those things we are blind, deaf and without heart.

Todays office - pretty fancy

Amid the scarcity of decent fabric almost everywhere it does the heart good to visit the egg boutique in London. It’s not cheap but every textile in the place is beautiful and heavy and will last 15 years of good wear.

genshin impact...... genshin helvetica would be in better taste

The kid is learning WASD. Currently at the level of a two finger hunt and peck typist but we’re both excited about the possibilities.

We all have an emotional support dead famous person, and who they are says a lot about you

This is it 100% - there is no such thing as the objectively best garment to fit everyone. We all have different body geometry, taste, narratives in our head about who we want to be in the world.

An important part of my day job these days seems to be writing about people who dress interestingly. Here Renata Molho, queen of Italian fashion writing and friend of Armani and Romeo Gigli, who smashes together joy and dignity in a delightful way: www.instagram.com/p/DDtpTJzyv4...

This is what social media is for

Yes

I feel like this would work across many areas of life, not just dating

Having a nice time on Instagram: wrote about Nichola Coughlan adding curves to her curves: www.instagram.com/p/C7UCm0_tLY...

Ah, happy to see one of my favourites from the other place here. An unlikely Japanese mascot every day.

I wrote a quite nerdy post about a Japanese menswear nerd who is the obsession of Reddit menswear forums (which are startling places sometimes, but they’re right about Noboru Kakuta) www.instagram.com/p/C3AgKjHJRc...

This morning the forest is still and grey and full of birdsong

Back to the forest after a few weeks away, and it’s brilliant with frost and every step crunches. Sun is bright and low in the ice blue sky.

Jenna Lyons! Jenna Lyons! Jenna Lyons! She’s six feet tall, wears glasses and is so so cool, despite an unexpected second act on RHONY instagram.com/p/C1uOo58t9-g/

Eh, I was supposed to write about sparkly stuff for New Year’s Eve but got distracted by how hard it is to photograph dancefloors. I suck at current and timely posts instagram.com/p/C1e_hHhtsnL/

This has backfired as when I was telling her about Father Christmas she was all “I don’t believe that”. Three is a bit young to see through this, kid.

In the forest the rain is soft but very persistent and the misty trees look only half present.

This is going to be too small for me, but if anyone I know is size 10ish, a phenomenal Kenzo jacket awaits you at Oxfam - shape based on Dior’s New Look but done in indigo dye like a piece of workwear. Hnnggg I want to buy it just to caress it onlineshop.oxfam.org.uk/vintage-kenz...

It’s properly wintery in the forest this morning. The trees are bare, the air is brisk and even the birds are subdued.

Today the sky is a blank white featureless cloud but the forest is full of birds and red berries and the smell of leafmould

Good morning! It’s lovely in the forest this morning - the paths are all mud from last weeks rain but the sky is smudgy blue and it’s warm enough to go bareheaded.

We’ll the forest is full of percussive music this morning, with every branch dripping in a different note and cadence.

I wrote a little about corduroy today, and how its history is entwined with rebellion. It’s not just an excuse to post young mick jagger in a polo neck, though there is that too instagram.com/p/C0b3WJdt__S/

The forest was still and cold and damp this morning, but full of red berries and birds.
