Now seated for Paddington in Peru!

Kyle MacLachlan and Timothée Chalamet pay tribute to David Lynch for W Magazine, directed by Denis Villeneuve ⏳

Sietch Tabr… I love the harsh sunlight streaming down through slits in the cave ceiling high above. It’s such a smart and natural way to light the environment while also allowing the edges of the frame to fall off into blackness.

"There's Thufir Hawat, let him stand free, Gurney." Our first view of Thufir in the final scene. How much VFX work was required to remove him entirely from #DunePartTwo ?

Here’s a social media trend I hate: “What if [insert movie here] was shot vertically?” and then it’s just the ugliest AI shot extensions. Just saw one for Dune: Part Two. Disgusting. Go fuck yourself.

Heighliners of Dune

Now reading…

Hard to believe it's been since Dune in 2021 that we've seen Oscar Isaac in a live-action film role. Such a great performance. I'm excited to see him again in Frankenstein later this year. Welcome back, Mr. Isaac.

Experiencing Dune: Part Two in the theater again yesterday reminded me how insane the sound is. Sound design Oscar incoming.

Now seated for Dune: Part Two (re-release) Glad to be seeing it back in the theater!

Happy #LetterboxdFriday Time for another #LastFourWatched

Two Dune films nominated for Best Picture, and still no Best Director nomination for Denis Villeneuve. It’s not just an oversight anymore. It’s a criminal snub.

Criminal but not surprising

Gilbert is not proud to be an American

Seen some discussion on here about directors and their signature shots, and it got me thinking. There’s nothing Denis Villeneuve loves more than a viewfinder POV shot!

Happy 700 to all who celebrate

It’s time again for #LastFourWatched posting. What have you all been watching this week?

A Titan of cinema. Rest in Peace, David Lynch (1946-2025) ❤️ 📸: DUNE [1984]

Dune (1984) dir. David Lynch

Rest in Peace David Lynch, one of the most creative and interesting artists of our time.

Here’s a meme I’ve stolen for your Wednesday. It’s deeply stupid, but it makes me laugh.

The comeback of all time

Couldn’t sleep. Watched Dune: Part Two at 4 am. Suffering for it now.

Hopping on the Letterboxd #LastFourWatched trend, and I’m throwing in my four favorites to ~spice~ it up

May thy knife chip and shatter… I love the symmetry of both Dune films ending in simple a knife fight, though they couldn’t be more different in how they’re executed and what they represent for Paul.

Worm for your Wednesday

Gilbert is now seated for A Complete Unknown!

Brion Tomb, designed by Carlo Scarpa- Such an insanely beautiful location that fits the aesthetic of Villeneuve's Dune so well. I only wish we had gotten a few more scenes here.

Gilbert is now seated for Anora!

Early 2022, Dune Prophecy first 4 concepts I did in a week before we nailed the art direction of the show. A warmup week and a huge boost in motivaation in what I could do. Even those concepts were discarded pretty quickly, I still love them because they represent my entrance in this universe.

How would you rank Frank Herbert's Dune novels? Personally, I say: 1. Dune 2. God Emperor of Dune 3. Dune Messiah 4. Children of Dune 5. Chapterhouse: Dune 6. Heretics of Dune But if you ask me again tomorrow, I may have flipped Messiah and Children. They're that close.

Sitting down to breakfast knowing that I have to work again for another year

Deeply satisfying
