Deep Blue is 30 years old and was capable of defeating chess grand champions. It could be housed in a single cabinet. ChatGPT spans untold data centers devouring massive amounts of electricity and it got its ass whipped by an 8 bit gaming console from the 1970s.

So many wounds. Find a healer.

daisy in my latest ootds 🌻 love me some baggy pants and white sneakers lol

Remember that just two weeks ago, the CEO behind Mindseye was preemptively saying that any criticism was part of a global, well-paid conspiracy to bring their studio down. That wasn't so much a red flag as a full nationwide nuclear shelter warning, air-raid sirens audible everywhere.

The spirit of "capitalism, ho" appears in the most unexpected places.

Jason Carroll was singing the praise of the LAPD and bashing the protesters last night on CNN. In the end, he was zipped tied and hauled away by the same people he praised.

I'm sick with Covid, so I made this, an idea I've had for MONTHS now, Street Fighter 6 with Hanna Barbera Sound effects.

Oh, look at that. A gen-algo can be ginned up to lie. How about that. bsky.app/profile/thet...

15 years ago today, I sung the ED theme for #Xenoblade I was an exchange student and had never recorded my voice until this recording. I ended up staying in Japan, signed a record deal and have since sung for various video games & anime ‘Beyond the Sky’ truly changed my life #Xenoblade_fes25

insane downgrade

The AI industry is full of blatant lies, but the claim that we can reliably detect AI-generated writing is one of the worst. The idea that these pseudoscientific AI writing detectors are being used to justify punishing young people makes me incandescent with rage.

I mean yeah people often hate governments that have extralegal kidnapping masked goon squads that roam the country abducting people without cause or process or accountability. It's pretty normal to hate such a government I would even say to not hate it is blatantly immoral

Funny how I was able to drive out to Jack in the Box today & there were no horrific violent insurrectionists or an invasion by illegal aliens or any of that shit. Literally the only thing happening is that there are pockets where people are quietly marching & then ICE & police show up & hurt people.

for context here’s a map of greater Los Angeles and the protest is the roughly the red circle

There was a study a while back, I think around the time of Gamergate, that showed people didn't really interact with people outside their own circles back on a unified Twitter in the first place. A few potshots here and there but mostly insulated from one another

Between the fires and these protests, I hope this year teaches everyone that most of the shit talking you hear about California and more specifically, LA, comes from racists and gentrifying transplants. Most people love living here and would do anything to protect it.

sometimes you have to draw the reconstructed bronze age tumulus culture girl as if she was a 1990s pc-98 game character #originalart (old art)

across multiple news reports, the only “violence” i read about today was two plastic water bottles that were thrown. why is adam schiff lying in a way that directly endangers his constituents and delegitimizes the protestors?

this is what the people of la are saying "no" to. this is what we're in the streets about.

People will often say this sort of pushback is just handwringing over semantics. "It's just words." But semantics do matter, especially for those of us who work on a freelance and contractor basis. It's the difference between having needs and rights respected and being treated as disposable.

Honestly I think if this place was actually irrelevant we wouldn’t have to deal with the same freaking editorial every week for an entire year and a half

And this is why entrusting your spellcheck to a constantly-updating gen-algo isn't a sterling idea. bsky.app/profile/tomd...

So the media is greatly exaggerating the degree of civil unrest in the LA Metro, huh? I can commiserate, I still deal with people I meet who were convinced Portland completely burned to the ground a few years back

There is no bigger story right now than the White House asserting that California residents are in a state "of rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States."
