Been there before! Thought I needed "state" to mark certain spots for extra changes and hence reached for a codemod.
Eventually realised I could achieve the same goal by chucking in magic markers (e.g "??changeme??") with sed as a first pass, and chain more commands to find/change said markers π€ͺ

You can literally play in any way you desire, it all works out! Even after multiple playthroughs there will be new things people find and learn.
E.g.

Seems like the general workaround is to require things in the main thread so that things are never unloaded e.g. github.com/parcel-bundl... and also github.com/parcel-bundl...
There should be a few more workarounds on the original rust issue as well!
