If any fantastic historians could help me out with a project for Alevel coursework students by answering: What is your advice for improving a draft? @hallierubenhold.bsky.social @helencarr.bsky.social @drlindseyfitz.bsky.social @sixteenthcgirl.bsky.social @sathnam.bsky.social

Elizabethans 1580-1603. Slowly working my through these one page revision knowledge overviews as requested by our Y11 student voice. This one is for Elizabeth and her power as part of OCR B Elizabethans #historyteacher

And, in what feels like the blink of an eye, Florence & Felicity are 3!

I’m in the market for a coffee maker. Happy to purchase a separate frother. Recommendations welcome!

Taking the EEF 7 steps model to increase students independence in revision, combined with our active revision strategies of audit, understand, memorise, organise and apply. The active revision clock models the value of structured and meaningful revision.

Tomorrow is 100 days to the paper 1 exam so it’s time to launch “Marginal Gains” with Year 11. 100 activities to get 1% better. All hyperlinked to help students stay active in their revision. #aqahistory #gcsehistory

It’s that time of year where Year 13 study Watergate and no better way for them to prepare for the lesson than listening to the @theresthistory.bsky.social two part series and completing this worksheet. Dominic Sandbrook on top form. Tom Holland playing the Greek chorus to perfection.

Two days of Ofsted in which History was really under the microscope. So incredibly proud of what we have done as a team & how the pupils have responded to it. Came out in every observation, scrutiny & interview. This weekend has been about resting and recharging.

Ofsted. Day two. Let’s go.

Ofsted. Day one. Here we go.

Anything is fun when the person you are being taught by is enthusiastic, informed and passionate about it. Regardless of activity type.

Looking forward to teaching our British Empire enquiry - How did different people experience the British Empire? Here is our enquiry overview page & first page of our SOL. Always love to hear people's approaches to British Empire - an important enquiry to get right hence why I'm always tweaking!

Prosciutto wrapped cod. Boulanger potatoes. Veg medley. Sticky toffee pudding.

Small things like these by Claire Keegan was a perfect book to get into Christmas. The power of us all to make the right decision when presented with it.

Interesting last day. Had two hours of tutor group I didn’t know. Said I wasn’t going to show them a film. Instead, I got several board games and they played brilliantly for two hours. I feel we need to work on building more social interaction into schools. Silence is golden. Talk is platinum.

few things post 30 as gratifying as ordering a dish you make in a popular restaurant and realising that your version of it tastes just as good, if not better

Massive shout out to @drjaninaramirez.bsky.social She did a brilliant talk for students last Friday at @britishlibrary.bsky.social . Unfortunately she couldn’t stay for a chat. My colleague hoped she would sign a copy of Femina (which was a Xmas gift for his mum). But the lovely BL team… 1/2

If you were doing your last Christmas shopping in central London and wanted somewhere to eat solo. Where would you go?

Usually reserve for saturday, but I am proud of my cooking this week. Beef stroganoff Toad in the hole Tagliatelle with crab, chilli and lemon.

Excellent historical story from @hughrichards.bsky.social worked so well with my y11s. Such a powerful & important story as an example of opposition, why opposition was hard and how the Nazi police state worked. Worth spending time to look in depth at this - did so much heavy lifting. Thanks Hugh!

My entry to this year’s Christmas door competition. #theoffice

The Medieval Women exhibition at the @britishlibrary.bsky.social is sensational. Beautifully curated, presented and illuminated manuscripts reveal the personal, public and spiritual role women played in medieval life. They are brought out of the mists of time in their own words. Must see!

What a fantastic school session on Medieval Women from @drjaninaramirez.bsky.social! “You cannot be what you cannot see” was such a fascinating lense to view the medieval period through. The students were making reams of notes. Thanks to the @britishlibrary.bsky.social for putting it on.

Just spent 7 hours in children’s A&E. Fortunate that the resolution was positive. My god the NHS is great but it’s clearly under strain. Not helped by some people taking out their frustration on staff who are clearly working as hard as they can. This one was amazing throughout.

How are history documentaries made? Why are they produced, what is the filming process, and what exactly are the noddies? Well, read on and I'll reveal all nathenamin.substack.com/p/how-are-hi...

Saturday night dinner. Crispy chicken skin Coq au Vin Apple and blackberry cobbler

@1972shp.bsky.social is proud to present our Developing Teachers' Conference (virtual) on Sat Feb 1st '25. A superb line-up of workshops for #primary and #secondary & an inspiring keynote from Shalina Patel. Whether you are a trainee / ECT / yr 3-5 or just want great CPD this is not to be missed!

Spaghetti with Lobster.

I’m amazed that the Disney was kept to such a minimum. #spotifywrapped

#historyteachers #help Trying to come up with a similarity and difference enquiry. Tentative EQ is 'How did different women experience life in the middle ages'. My 3 cases are Margery Kempe, Joan of Arc, and Shajar al durr. Is it a big deal breaker that Shajar is about 150 years out from the others.

I don’t know what #whamageddon is and I’m too scared to ask anyone.

First casualty.
