I'm going to be honest. My mental health is in a very bad place right now. It could just be the sum of my own personal and societal problems, but whatever the cause, it's bad.

Oh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii….. “Darkhorse Tactical Investments????” Talk about saying the quiet part out loud.

Silicon Valley be all like "You didn't want to buy our monkey jpgs and conduct meetings with VR headsets, I guess we have no choice but to start WW3"

It’s easier to make a political issue of anti-immigrant positions if you are not also taking anti-immigrant positions.

I'm starting to get uncomfortable with "flood the zone" framing. The implication seems to always be that the savvy move is to ignore some/all of it. But the thing is, he's flooding the zone WITH POLICYMAKING. Some of it will fail, but none of it is just completely dismissible.

hmm, seems bad

🚨 JD Vance reposted a Harvard legal scholar known for arguments in support of extensive executive powers and unilateral executive action. He appears to be telegraphing that the administration is going to ignore judicial orders seeking to stop its radical efforts to reshape the federal government.

Increasingly convinced that the greatest strength of parliamentary government is how easily overreaching parliments collapse into having to build a governing majority.

"But maybe the biggest reason for Trump’s desire to kill the congestion charge is a phenomenon I identified the last time I wrote about this: the rage some Americans obviously feel at any suggestion that people should change their behavior for the common good." Via @pkrugman.bsky.social

Soledad was harvesting strawberries on Friday in Oxnard, CA. She shares, "We are taking a break right now, but we are working harvesting strawberries in the rain. The rows are filled with water, and it is muddy and slippery." #WeFeedYou

Richest man on Earth is working to legalize elite crimes while stealing your social security.

This is completely true. It's also true that all doctors in the USA first have a BS or a BA degree from a university and it's generally considered important that physicians be capable of empathy and dealing with uncertainty. These skills are taught in the Humanities (which NIH, NSF etc do not fund).

midwestern white guy STUNS wawa staff by ordering a hoagie in PERFECT philly accent

the internet is dying. in the 2000s it was a rich and vibrant place full of awful nerds who’d never read a book or listened to rap that came out after 36 chambers and they were all doing “turn rap lyrics into high literature” memes

Can someone who's good at geometry tell me what happens when one side moves towards the center and the other side moves away from the center

Purging dissent in the security services and giving loyalists power is something we *instantly* recognize in other contexts.

80% of the federal workforce is outside of DC.

this is what unites us

Pushing back on the premise here: There has been a 40 YEAR push for “government efficiency” now. It gutted the social safety net, left agencies understaffed & overworked & left it incredibly fragile. That fragility is HELPING make this coup possible. Gov’t is too lean, it needs MORE redundancy.

It's also not true. White maternal death rates are also not great when compared to other countries. The downside of using the people you systematically opress as your benchmark is you fail to recognize how your own policies are killing you.

At least we still live in the country with the best healthcare system in the world.

No one has tried this before, let's see how it plays out.

It's breaking through.

lol

Me @vincemancini.bsky.social and Zach Foster watched the 2023 biopic “Golda” on this weeks bad Hasbara bonus ep. Here is the synopsis as told by Smash Mouth.

Democrats feel the need to punch down in order to get “one” on Trump. This isn’t funny. It’s not cute. This is gross.

A street artist in DC is putting up these posters all over the city. I’d love to get one.

Government of South Africa takes Trump to school:

Quand l'extrême droite arrive au pouvoir, elle s'attaque toujours à la presse parmi ses premières cibles. En Hongrie, elle a fait racheter les médias par ses amis, aux Etats-Unis, elle remplace la presse par ses blogueurs affiliés...

Trump Claims He Can Overrule Constitution With Executive Order Because Of Little-Known ‘No One Will Stop Me’ Loophole

Vindicitive and cruel

The Trump régime's fetishizing and favor for Afrikaner "refugees" is good reason to recall that the Mississippi Delta and other places already crawl with white South African farm workers, displacing local Black workers in violation of H-2A visa rules mississippitoday.org/2023/01/06/b...

I watched Tropic Thunder when it first came out with conservative family members who thought it was the funniest thing they'd ever seen. To this day, I wonder what exact message they took away from the movie, and I suspect it's that "black face is fun and we should be able to do it."

Taking a minute to be self pitying and once again reflecting on how my stories about groypers and Nazis in the GOP were rejected over and over for years. Anyway if you know even more groypers or Nazis in government, please lmk.

“Federal judge blocks Musk’s DOGE from access to Treasury Department material The judge also ordered Musk and his team to “immediately destroy any and all copies of material downloaded from Treasury Department’s records and systems, if any.” Now to see if they comply.

From a crude markets perspective, this is a catastrophe for the pharmaceuticals industry (combined market cap: $1.88trn) and biotech industry (combined market cap: $1.32trn). Five alarm fire, "everything we depend on to create value is being dumped down a sewer", catastrophe.

The White House has issued an Executive Order to allow Afrikaners to be treated as refugees. White supremacy is very clearly the explicit policy of the US government. www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

Breaking my social media break just to say… the deep cuts to humanities departments were the canary in the coal mine for this shit. It was never gonna stop with laying off history profs and closing language departments

Sorry to the eugenicists in the comments but you do not get to use “fuck around and find out” on kids who are being murdered by their idiot parents
