💔 Farewell to the wonderful Bill Fay. I’ve always loved this one, which feels a bit like solo McCartney if the cloying-ish cheerfulness were replaced by melancholy a million miles deep youtu.be/CH9krC2X8yU?...

This is an excellent piece. As someone who worked for a studio in the nineties, and who witnessed up close the way Black talent was set-up constantly to fail during an ostensible renaissance, it speaks to something that was lost then and has only been more so since

Fucking finally: BASEBALL SEASON, goddamn

A protester unfurled a combined Palestinian and Sudanese flag on the field during Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl halftime performance. The NFL said in a statement that the person was part of the 400-member field cast. nyti.ms/3CVV6Au

Two beautiful prophets of my adolescence, exactly as I remember them. Goodbye, David 💔

Not only is this piece unspeakably graphic and difficult, it highlights the ways in which economic disparities allow this sort of abuse to flourish. Gaiman and Palmer—both artists whose work has always spurred a visceral dislike in me—come across as absolutely vile human beings

Planet Fitness locations in Los Angeles are “offering anyone impacted by the fires—first responders and residents—free access to shower, recharge, and relax” No membership is required to take advantage of locker rooms, WiFi, charging stations at any LA County location not impacted by the fires.

This is such a fundamental piece of etiquette that it always blows my mind when folks don’t adhere to it really

Luigi's act is interesting for what it reveals more than for what it engenders Widespread resentment at growing inequality, highest levels since Great Depression, especially for under 40s. The killer is white and not obviously "left-coded", made it harder for ruling class to divide public opinion.

Wrote a little on the loss of a public commons, in the spirit of the holiday, I suppose 🎄❤️ slowplayers.substack.com/p/slow-playe...

Finally got around this morning to reading @jasondiamond.bsky.social’s killer Baryshnikov piece. As MB was once (long ago) a family friend, it hits all the harder. Treat yourself
