Saw my first kings game tonite and they lit the beam

I’ve told this story a lot; but in Ichiro Suzuki’s 262-hit year, I had to quantify his impact. I asked slugger Carlos Delgado about what Ichiro was doing. Carlos was impressed, and the following exchange happened. Spencer: “All his hits are singles.” Carlos: “Spencer, there’s 250 of them.”

I’ve waded through four years of bullshit before. I played high school football on Long Island.

If you’re sharing news about one couple that supposedly controls all of California’s water, you are participating in antisemitic tropes whether you know it or not. sjvwater.org/are-the-resn...

I like black buttes And I cannot lie

I’ve been listening to opera in “classical music” settings in Spotify but I just changed to “vocal booster” and holy schnikes it makes a big difference

When something looks difficult but it’s not nearly as difficult as it looks, that’s an obstacle illusion.

IMO, California is the best state in the country and by all rights should probably be its own country. And I’m a NYer.

My dog pepper has loved every body of water she’s ever met; except the Pacific which she (correctly) regards as a death trap.

I hit pinnacles national park yesterday and am currently en route to Big Sur. We live in an extraordinarily beautiful country.

The search for Bigfoot sounds like the dumbest shit in the world when you’re from the east coast. But get out west and see the giant forests? I’m not sure how dumb it is anymore.

Spencer to hotel clerk: “I live in Sacramento and this is my first time in San Jose. It feels like a MUCH bigger city than Sacramento.” Hotel clerk: “I think it is?” Correct, sir. It’s almost twice as big.

Gladiator 2 is for people who have seen Gladiator 1000 times and want to see the same exact movie again but this time with a slightly different cast.

I spent a couple months learning about water rights on the Colorado River and interviewing people close to this story before we published www.watereducation.org/western-wate...

The @sfchronicle.com made my day today by introducing me to tour director Davy Crockett, who is ostensibly the king of the wild frontier.

Every year the MLB Winter Meetings roll around, I think about the time I was in the Baltimore GM's suite with my competitors asking about a trade we all knew had been completed; the GM kept saying it wasn't done, and behind him, on TV, ESPN BREAKING NEWS reported the story we were trying to confirm.
