I’ve told this story a lot; but in Ichiro Suzuki’s 262-hit year, I had to quantify his impact. I asked slugger Carlos Delgado about what Ichiro was doing. Carlos was impressed, and the following exchange happened. Spencer: “All his hits are singles.” Carlos: “Spencer, there’s 250 of them.”
