Current view. See you later on @bbcmorninglive where I'll try and stop your phone being snatched.

What are AI Agents, and is 2025 the year they're going to take over? Wellllll.... not if this chat with a chatbot is anything to go by. This month's Spencer Kelly on the Edge is an eye-opener...

Scenes from a misty Monday morning train ride.

Weirdest-newsletter-ever klaxon! The Rise of the Machines drops on Monday - this one is mainly an audio experience... Previous eps still available at the usual places, and new subscribers very welcome.

I had a very weird experience with AI, which you'll hear about on next week's Spencer Kelly On The Edge. Meanwhile, there's still time to get your eyes and ears around the current edition, which features a certain megastar... Link is in the image - new subscribers very welcome!

It's not in the Recycle Bin, it's not in any of the folders listed, but I've got 90GB filling up my Samsung somewhere. Any idea how I track it down?

Random sunset shot, because you deserve it.

Wait! What? How did I miss this? Per Gessle has continued the Roxette sound after we lost Marie, and I'm loving loving loving it. open.spotify.com/art...

Shall I..?

If you've ever written a song about cats, it's streaming payday, because my daughter's in charge of the tunes.

Monthly newsletter pre-klaxon! Please enjoy a year of my thoughts on tech and TV at the link in the image, and the next edition is coming on Monday. It would mean the world if you would subscribe, as I edge ever closer to my target of a quadrillion readers. x

Standby. @bbcmorninglive

DeepSeek then. What do we think?

On my way to Manchester for tomorrow's @BBCMorningLive, where one of my stage instructions will be "SPENCER WRAPS GETHIN IN HEATED BLANKET". Prepare to get toasty @GethincJones

Well, I'm being delayed by a swan on the line. You?

Our last photo taken together at our last #CES for Click. It's been an absolute blast to film there for so many years with one of my best friends @laralewington.bsky.social. Got a bit emotional tbh.

Mary Berry, the very hairy fairy.

This is great! Never seen this type of performance before. youtu.be/m7NxnPbOZFE...

I'm a big fan of The Corridor Crew - they do interesting things with cameras and VFX. But they've been caught up in the LA fires, and in this video they give us a view of the different areas that are burning and an idea of the role of the windstorm in all this. youtu.be/TwYMb7tFnFo...

The only thing I think when I see these things up close is "I must get my internal graphics card upgraded". #notenoughpolygons

Fighting the charge in Las Vegas

It's funny who you bump into at #CES. I've had a few chats with Will over the years, and he's always a good laugh. Plus in conversations with him i always get the sense that his brain is working faster than a normal human's.

I've seen flexible OLED screens before, but never a stretchable Micro LED screen. It's just weird...

A computer display that's protected straight into your eye!

Spencer Kelly is On The Edge once again! Subscribers are already reading about my Christmas humilia - er - participation on another TV quiz show. To find ot what went on in my head, and ON my head, I'd love you to join. Much love, Spen. open.substack.com/pu...

The craziest hotel I know.

Arrived in the US, and may require an ambulance already.

Happy 2025 all, and #CES here we come. What wonders await..?

Frosty Friday.

Closer than I expected, but no cigar. Loved meeting this lot on #UniversityChallenge, including our valiant reserve member Ipsita. Congrats to Queen's, a well deserved victory.

We made it through the first round, and tonight is the #UniversityChallenge semi-final. It is definitely worth a watch, but will we beat Queen's Cambridge to the final? Find out at 8.30pm (don't think I've left any spoilers in the shot)

Wish me luck

Tonight's the night. 8.30pm. BBC TWO. #UniversityChallenge. This motley crew vs Southampton, for what turned out to be a bit of a grudge match for all of us. But who will win...?

Tonight, people!

It's been a helluva year, and to every one of you who sent love, messages of goodwill, support, and with whom I've had really exciting conversations about things to come, thank you. Please accept this on-brand, festive image, which I slaved over for seconds, especially for you. x

Did you know I used to be on The Gadget Show? Well, I was! And this week I caught up with @suziperry.bsky.social and Jason Bradbury to chat about the fun stuff we did, and my proudest moments from 20 years on Click. #GadgetShowPodcast 👀 youtu.be/tsqahMkqi4E 🎤 shows.acast.com/the-...

Coming soon... #spoilers

Anyone else seen Carry-On on Netflix? Actually pretty damn good. Aiming to be a new Die Hard-style Christmas movie methinks... Disappointed by the lack of Sid James and Barbara Windsor though.

How to make every Christmas song ever. Or, how to make any song a Christmas song. youtu.be/VUBH9u8Gx2g...

I did enjoy Spaceman (Adam Sandler film on Netflix), but it's basically Project Hail Mary isn't it? (warning... replies to this may contain spoilers)

Recently I travelled to the year 2125, to see how nature is coping with the way we're changing the climate. It was a surprisingly positive experience actually - here's my film about the Natural History Museum's Visions of Nature experience... www.bbc.co.uk/reel/v...

Two things have got noticeably better in the last year or two. Christmas lights events (thank you computer-controlled multi-coloured LEDs synced to music), and phone cams. My photos actually look better than my eyes saw them at the time. These are the Leonardslee Gardens Lights.

Seriously though, what's with all the gonks?

"I know", I thought. "Why don't I use AI to write a song about the event I'm speaking at, live on stage?" Hoping the wifi would work and the result wouldn't be garbage, I performed the trick. The Foodservice Equipment Association were treated to a song about eating jellyfish.
