Why I like writing blog posts for my own site over the ghostwriting I do for others: I can work on a post that goes over 2300 words AND NO ONE CAN STOP ME. (A new post, "Digital Credentials vs. Traditional Federation: What’s the Difference?", is done and ready to publish March 18.)

Recovery from the indignities offered by the vet is hard.

Sad cats, in jail. (aka, in their carriers for their annual check up).

Woooo! "Congratulations! Your session Beyond Humans: The Event Horizon for Identity & Access Management has been accepted for Bsides Seattle on April 18-19th, 2025!" This will be a new-to-me conference and I can't wait to be there! #NHI #AccessManagement #DigitalIdentity #Bsides

I love the idea of zero-knowledge proofs. They are the holy grail of privacy-preserving tech. Or maybe they are the next barrier to equity. I have more to learn, but here's where I'm starting. #ZKP #DigitalDivide #Cybersecurity #standards

What self-care looks like today: I am washing the bedsheets AND the duvet cover! Before the weekend so I can just lounge in bed without a care in the world! (OK, that's a lie. So many cares. I expect at least 8 hours doing a NIST CSF 2.0 mapping exercise against a PQC testbed. For my sins.)

Yesterday day’s office assistant.

One of our supporters shared this with us—people are getting creative tonight!

Just a quick moment of gratitude for Bluesky. I can be here to keep up with the news and still share cat photos (or not post at all and just watch the world go by).

I am finally using the standing desk to actually stand during the day. Being me, I'm thinking about printing out the word "ceremony" in a fancy font and putting it on the floor. So that, yes, I can stand on ceremony. I am a terrible person.

This morning’s supervision is more over the shoulder style.

The indoor cat thermometer says brrr.

Happy birthday Judy Blume #BookSky

In what world does it make sense that a "Continue Reading" button will give me a TOFU on Firefox and a proper arrow on Chrome? WHY??? The font family is your basic Montserrat! Grrr.

The cute is real.

Agentic AI is shaking up authentication as we know it. Can federated models like OAuth2 handle autonomous agents, or do we need something new? I have questions (and a few glimmers of answers) in my latest post. #DigitalIdentity #agenticAI #authentication

Today’s recovery day activities look like: NOT reviewing (again) my business plan for the quarter; doing some household chores I’ve been putting off (hello, air filter, my old friend); and, most importantly, https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/classic-chocolate-chip-cookies-recipe

I don’t know how anyone’s getting anything done right now. Clients are freaking out. Prospective clients are freaking out. And I'm freaking out. But freaking out doesn’t pay the bills (or keep my cats in kibble), so here I am. Upping my engagement on LinkedIn. Trying to stay relevant.

Time for Chaucer to take over.

Mercy just sort of gave up on the whole supervision thing. It was exhausting.

Time to do a review of a couple of new identity standards: "Digital trust and identity – Part 0: Techniques – Code of Practice" - out for comment from the gov't of Canada dgc-cgn.org/standards/fi...

no, you drink coffee i drink a bean infused magical elixir that keeps me from becoming an axe murderer

Judgmental supervision ftw. Yes, I know I’m not working efficiently this morning, princess. You just hush.

Doctors are quickly realizing that the most up-to-date information on HIV prevention medication, STI testing, contraception, childhood vaccination schedules, and more has been scrubbed from the CDC website.

Un-Hot Take: I am bitter towards everyone who complained that Microsoft wanted to bill for goods and services on the internet, because they wanted things for "free" from Google and Facebook and the other advertising giants who are busy destroying our world in their thirst for data to exploit.

I gotta say, trying to focus on regular work items that involve posting on social media is really hard right now. Cat photos are easy. Building LinkedIn Carousels to make people care about stuff I want them to do is ridiculous.

Someone woke up in the spicy side this morning. She is exhausting.

I wrote a thing about how there appear to be at least a few of the folks who helped sanewash Trump/Muskism who are recognizing "wait, shit is going bad" and I know it's easy to demonize those people, but we may need more people like them to stop this. www.techdirt.com/2025/02/04/f...

I've updated my post, "Are You Human? A Dive Into the Proof of Personhood Debate" to include an audio blog version. I also added a note that the term "personhood" isn't without its own issues. Something to think about as we continue the discussion. sphericalcowconsulting.com/2025/01/27/a...

On the latest @advancingcyber.com episode, I talk to Chris Hale of Cisco and Emily Lemaire of Covington & Burling about the EU’s groundbreaking cyber regs: DORA, NIS 2.0, and CRA. open.spotify.com/episode/0VkH... Apple Podcasts link below

I don't think I've ever had a paper I helped co-author win awards before. "Personhood Credentials: Artificial intelligence and the value of privacy-preserving tools to distinguish who is real online" just won an award from the Future of Privacy Forum! #privacy #AI #digitalidentity #personhood

For giggles, I added a self-recorded audio blog to this one. I prefer the written post, but YMMV! Would love feedback.

Time to share how SCITT, SPIFFE, and WIMSE are transforming software supply chain security. From SBOMs to workload identity, these frameworks and standards build trust, resilience, and compliance in modern systems. #CyberSecurity #SupplyChainSecurity #NHI

D’awww. The paws are killing me with the cute.

With such “lovely” weather (rain/snow mix) what’s a girl to do but stay in bed with the cats and read trashy romance novels?
