🚨 BOOM: In a move designed to increase opportunity for people experiencing homelessness, Spokane has become the first city in the entire country to ban employers from asking for an applicant’s permanent address.

This was quite moving.

I love how common it is to have strange bedfellows in Spokane. SBA is the new explicitly-conservative chamber of commerce and even *THEY* are in support of Spokane's first-in-the-nation legislation to ban discrimination against houseless people in employment applications.

This was kind of wild! Councilmember Bingle literally suggesting we replace a worker with a ChatGPT subscription.

HB 1183 is getting signed TOMORROW!

Two years ago, parking reform of this magnitude would not have been possible. Pro-housing advocates have changed the narrative and demanded action. Thank you!

And 11% drop in currency value, so we’ve arguably lost 25% of our wealth in the first 90 days of the Trump administration.

Fun news: Spokane may become, we *think,* the first city in the entire country to make it illegal to discriminate in employment applications against people who don’t have a permanent address.

I’m not even particularly religious and I find myself offended by the responses to this. The piece doesn’t say “religion is the only way to live a fulfilling life.” It says “some people find that religion gives them a sense of purpose.” That is wildly non-controversial!

It is absolutely essential that Democratic activists NATIONALLY get involved in pushing California—and their own home states—to build more housing. You can start by asking Sen. Aisha Wahab to advance critical pro-housing legislation tomorrow in their state Senate Housing Committee:

Bad bad bad

Oh wow, this is huge news. I don't see an obvious way to stop the King County budget from cratering without this, tbh. Maybe if the state leg gave counties other ways to raise revenue, but that little sales tax bump for public safety isn't going to cut it.

Do you think they realize how absurd it is for the NYSE to have a moment of silence for Pope Francis?

Markets down another 3%. This can’t continue. The tariff regime must be lifted.

We desperately need candidates for governor in California to run and then govern like this:

Let me smash that preorder button!

This is essential. Finally! 👍

New York City government is basically a conspiracy against city residents

It’s not the biggest thing, but it’s wild how frequently and flagrantly this administration violates the Administrative Procedure Act.

The dollar is down 11% since January. In other words, we have lost 11% of our wealth in just the past three months.

Think about how good of a man he was, that on his last day on Earth—and literally the most important Christian holiday—he still was willing to spend five minutes with a man like J.D. Vance.

Friedrich Merz: ‘The death of Pope Francis fills me with great sadness. Francis will be remembered for his tireless commitment to the weakest in society, to justice and reconciliation. Humility and faith in God's mercy guided him in this. In doing so, the first Latin American to

If your state senator sits on the Senate Housing Committee, I implore you to give their office a call on Monday to tell them you support SB 79 (transit-oriented upzoning within 1/2 mile of rail and BRT stops). shou.senate.ca.gov/members#top

I truly can’t get over how racist the GOP has become in even the most banal contexts.

This is literally a direct quote from over the top villain Jafar in Disney's Aladdin lmfao

It's obvious that "transit corridor" upzoning is bullshit because they never want to touch the parcels that aren't literally on the arterial as if people are not capable of walking 5 minutes. It's always just a goofy version of LA's condo canyon.

Turns out you can shape the agenda with dramatic action and maybe even shift public opinion. Crazy.

1,000% this!

One of my signs from during the child separation protests. "Abolish ICE" was and remains the morally correct position.

I mean, in a vacuum, yes. But the question isn’t whether highways drive economic development, it’s whether other transportation investments would drive economic development more (they would).

Crucial committee votes coming up next week. Sign letter ⤵️ if you care about housing affordability & availability…or Democrats’ seats in Congress and their Electoral College votes.

Really proud of the way people in Coeur d’Alene have stepped up to protest the lawless actions of the Trump administration. This takes courage in ruby-red North Idaho, where guns and neo-Nazism arguably run rampant.

The 50501 movement is just nonpartisan enough (and not yet co-opted by establishment Dems) that if it added a plank for a massive Second Reconstruction—including constitutional amendments—it might actually stand a chance.

If you were to write a bill at the state level to reduce and/or eliminate loud vehicles (which often have aftermarket exhaust systems but sometimes just need service), how would you structure it?

I firmly believe that degrowther politicians should be excised from every Democratic Party. Aisha Wahab is the chair of the powerful California state Senate Housing Committee. There’s a strong case that her anti-housing, anti-growth ideology is not just hurting California, but the entire country.

No it’s not! Subaru will do literally everything except build an electric Crosstrek with 300-mile range and 10-80% charging in 25 minutes.

This letter is fantastic. California’s housing shortage is a national issue and arguably the reason we have a Republican Congress. It is absolutely imperative that they build more homes, quickly.

The fact that this list includes (1) neighborhood associations from white, wealthy, exclusionary areas and (2) professionally managed nonprofits that claim to represent the interests of low-income renters tells you a lot about California housing politics.
