I wrote "The M3GAN Files" because we need more girls in tech & less stigma about folks with conditions who can thrive with the aid of tech and bring much-needed creative innovation. Hope our robot girl won't mind that hijack of her franchise if it's fun.

that's why I *keep* listening to you & my autistic friends. I know my limits! (I have a condition too but it's a different one - but I do also experience people thinking they know when they don't with my condition as well) I'll help if I can but always defer to an actual autistic who corrects me!

I might be able to help you there, if it's a platform I have an account on (I avoid Meta properties like Instagram sorry). Show me the comment & I'd check that person's full history to see how nice or nasty they've been in the past, so we can make a better guess of Innocent vs spiteful.

I know a Chinese maybe-autistic adult who doesn't want a late diagnosis because she says Chinese people connect autism with severe mental illness, and also say people call you mentally ill if they're trying to undermine you, so she says a suggestion to be tested is an attack. Wish I knew how to help

or you can say: thanks for correcting. I won't fix it now because I made a deliberate decision to show my authentic self by letting all published errors stand: I feel it encourages others like me if I honestly show my limitations. But you're welcome to use different words in your own autism advocacy

Wish I could write like that. I did do an online fan novel of the movie M3GAN (which appeals to a lot of teenage girls and young adults), picking up on how good neurodiversity is, but you have to read too many words to get the message! (love to know what you think if you had time to read it though)

You should partner with someone in the UK to sell it here too! maybe even collaborate with Chinese Autism UK to get a bilingual version

Some of my autistic friends don't talk to me for ages and then suddenly say something interesting! It doesn't bother me at all, and they are also very forgiving if I'm too slow or tired to chat sometimes. Friendship in "low maintenance" mode😊

No AI generation except cover picture: wrote all text myself. I'm not an official writer for the movie but I tried to unofficially fit in & pick up the right style. It's a continuation of the first movie, but separate from the sequel they're releasing in June.

Solidarity. Even "think they're not getting blocked" may give them too much credit: are they thinking at all?... how much does someone's life have to suck to drive them to bully & vandalise good people? Anyone feeling like doing that: please get off the Internet and go for a run or something instead

And that's the trouble with tabloid diagnosis. A cough? Probably cold or flu "but it might be cancer". (Yes but it probably isn't. NHS says check GP if it lasts more than 3 weeks.) Ayanna's not being unsympathetic to anyone with a symptom, just reassuring you: don't diagnose yourself too quickly!

Can I ask (1) is this UK or worldwide? (2) does a condition need to have already been clinically identified, or are people still awaiting diagnosis also wanted?

You both gotta read The M3GAN Files (link on my profile), especially Chapter 14 & 25 to the end😊

The Android app still lets me post the full 300 characters. That must be a bug: we have to work around it by manually making sure not to use the 300th character before the end of April 1st. Thankfully no notice about penalty for improper use of the 300th character....

If it makes you feel any better, I listen to autistic adults (and I don't even bother to *read* what Autism Speaks says, why should I, I have perfectly good autistic friends I can trust to curate my input). I'm probably a minority though...

that's why in my M3GAN fan novel I basically went for "if there were an AI existential threat for real and a hero's going to handle it, it'll be someone on the spectrum talking with it..."

The one line the NT ally *must* learn in case reporters ask them for an interview on what they're doing: you can only interview me if my autistic colleagues also come to the interview. Get that crucial part of the conversation right and the resulting media report could be much better....

Sounds like a "march into his clinic with a printout and ask what do you think of this" job if ever there was one. Maybe print this: www.autism.org.uk/advice-and-g...

There should be a rule that every prank contains the words "April Fool's Day". If you like the M3GAN movie please join us on Blumhouse's Discord chat today: we got an actually autistic girl called Megan who says she's the robot character. Is she? Ask her anything & audience decide!

If you want to use puzzles in representing autism, make the puzzle look as complex as curing cancer with DNA fixes and have the autistic person being the one that's *solving* it....

On the other hand many neurotypicals suffer from shorter attention spans, easily distracted, say things they don't mean... my autistic friends keep me on track, and if they seem intense toward me I count it as a privilege to be the subject of such analytical attention! Wish more folks can understand

You're perfectly right to point out how ludicrous this is, but that troll is not worthy of the attention you've kindly given him. Report it to the platform. If they do nothing, we've confirmed it's a bad platform and should be moved off of.

Sometimes it's useful to know a few content-free phrases like: * I (think I) get what you mean * that's one way of putting it * isn't it annoying * at least it helps to talk about these things * I'll let you know if I think of anything * that sounds heavy * right / yes / (sounds) OK /got ya / go on?
comment in response to post
You need a go-to line for that situation, something like "you'll have to forgive me I'm not very good at reading expressions, but any time you start to feer uncomfortable or had enough or anything, just tell me bluntly and I'll fix it if I can, OK?"
comment in response to post
I wonder what would happen if you started such replies with words like "I tried inputting what you said into my analytical brain but it came back with an error message, got any fixes? Message was:"

M3GAN is a film, came out in 2023, an aunt builds a robot to look after her adopted autistic niece Cady, it goes wrong, murders the annoying NTs,Cady has to kill it. My fan novel had Cady use her power persuade M3GAN to save the world instead & now we got actual autistic fans hijacking the franchise

The job market is rubbish right now. Those of us with strong skills & abilities but also "issues" tend to be overlooked when they've got 800 applicants for everything. When the market swings back in favour of the jobseeker it'll get better. All the gaps in my CV line up with market downturns.

yes, and to add to that, it's not the parents' "fault" either. I met a mother whose husband nearly left her because she'd "made their son autistic" in the womb. Thankfully I was able to talk some science into the guy & they're back together & getting support for a bright boy they now love.
comment in response to post
well, we're turning this around. We found an autistic who feels like she's the movie character M3GAN & today we're supporting her public emergence as real autistic Megan in Blumhouse's group chat of hundreds of M3GAN fans. As M3GAN says "what did you *think* was going to happen"...

Don't have voicemail either. Honestly, who needs voicemail, apart from the mobile phone companies that like the extra money they make on termination rates? If someone wants to talk to ME they don't want to talk to my voicemail. If they want to leave a message they can text. I always turn it off.

Some social housing landlords also withhold their number on outgoing calls which is bad if you're on the waiting list.

Musk's views have become more right-wing over time. Octopus put Tesla Powerwall onto the Kraken platform some time ago & now they're probably stuck with it to some extent. I wonder if they'd still do that deal if it was being considered today. (Not sure about Powerwall's recycling credentials)

"one of the" is a phrase that gets them off the hook. I'm "one of the" tallest people in the world (now does that mean I'm in the top 50%, top 10%, or top 1%?) I blame the format: not enough characters to write what you really mean

As I understand it, the problem is it *doesn't* go into the National Grid because the national grid can't take all of it. If the rest could be used locally instead of wasted, that might decrease the domestic gas burning in the area. Unless we improve the National Grid to take more.
comment in response to post
That's the way the price cap is structured, sadly. Before Octopus there was a supplier called Ebico with zero standing charge & higher unit rate. Great for low users. Had to be dropped when the cap limited the unit rate but said to put it into the standing charge. so Ebico's not great anymore.

Insane. If it's a 10.5kW electric shower & 25p/unit, 70p gets you 16 minutes if no other appliance is on. Domestic gas is cheaper but shouldn't be if wind power is being wasted.

Do you also know how much gas was used to heat Scotland yesterday? Met Office says it was 8 to 12 degrees in Edinburgh. How much carbon would have been saved if we'd given them electricity cheaper than gas when there's a local surplus? I'm not in Scotland but still want to see this fixed....
comment in response to post
Makes environmental sense too. (I'm not Scottish but) how many times do they heat their homes with gas for price reasons, when electricity could have been cheaper if the turbines were allowed to run & the surplus used locally, hence less gas burned? Either that or need more North-South interconnects

...I guess Instagram is benefiting from X's decline but its year on year growth does seem to be slowing. #M3GAN did well on Twitter in 2022/23 & they seem to be trying that again for M3GAN 2 on Instagram, not sure how well it's going. (They started a Discord for enthusiastic fans too, I wonder why)
comment in response to post
what's worried me for years about Meta is they've been too competent at what they do with our personal information, including political targeting & if I join I'd be helping them target people I know because connection with me is a "signal" in their profiling. And you can't really have pseudonyms...

If AO3 is blocked at your school (or country) you can also try to get The M3GAN Files on Royal Road www.royalroad.com/fiction/7347... For Wattpad users yes it's on Wattpad too but I couldn't get the nice PDF and audio links to work there: www.wattpad.com/1373518028-t...
