The striking simplicity of Siddal’s outline, painting at an easel - inked by fellow artist and lover, Rossetti - inspired the motif for ‘Beyond Ophelia’, an exhibition I curated of Siddal’s art. Face inscrutable in shadow, I’m drawn to the power of this image as a symbol of the universal artist.
