Dumpster I dived in #Vancouver Fairview yielded much quality Japanese "merch", incl. deluxe instant noodle paks, lovely Casio 593 A158W & "Hiroshima Toyo Carp" notepad of handmade-ish paper. I set watch time/date & gave it to #homeless peer. Noodles are packed away. Pls enjoy notepad photo.

Spent some time battling the obsolescence of a dumpster-dived HTC One S. High end in 2012 - with gorgeous Super AMOLED display - but it's Android 4.1.1. OS dooms it to heck! Sideloaded Chrome v.71. Maybe it'll handle McD's free WiFi Thurs morning. 😆 #Vancouver #homeless #tech

Kindertrumpen to put the "phony" in telephony, as they prepare to sell Trumped up wireless to clueless MAGAts! For starters, there's little American about the over-priced gold-toned Android 15 phone being pitched. Could be wrong but I don't think any AMOLED displays are made in the U.S.

My morning: 1.) Had elder I see at McD's arrive earlier than usual so I had time to run their iPhone 7's IMEI number thru Rogers' post-GSM/G3 online compatability checker. (it passed!) 2.) Mocked-up notice for 10am meet with building mgr friends who have tenants misusing a green bin. #Vancouver

1/2 Dodgy-looking guy who turned out to be plainclothed #Vancouver police officer stepped into my #homeless parkade sleeping spot. Matked VPD cruiser rolled in to join him. Driver curtly asked me when I'd be leaving. To this intimidation I said I had no plan to leave & was there by permission...

#Homeless peer came into McD's & - among other things - asked if I had $350 in my bank account. Turns out he thot he saw news story about new Canadian govt investment program for seniors called Immediate Neon. It's a #SCAM. There's even fake video of PM Carney promoting it. #Vancouver

Reading documentation incl. with my dumpster-dived IKEA "FIXA" 7.2V screwdriver/drill. Seems to charge using the yellow-tipped 1.7mm barrel charger for my Toughbook. Cut up the original storage case toward making something more compact. #Vancouver #homeless

Two elders in McD's have complained to me this month about problems with the Apple iOS & iPad OS mail app. Both complaints turn out to be about the new inbox mail catagorization feature in iOS 18.0x. This can be turned off by switching to List View in the Inbox menu (3 dots, top right of screen).

Less than a week & 1st modified deer cart has suffered 2 fails - 1 minor, 1 major. 1.) Right-side brace tube is gone. Load pushing tube likely popped open D-clip fasteners. We thot D-clips needed replacing with bolts. 2.) Worse, part of $20 towbar-to-bike connector broke off!! #Vancouver #homeless

Friend updated me on condition of mutual friend in their 70s who lives in Burnaby & may need someone to do their grocery shopping. Friend said they might not be able to do it. On Burnaby Library site I found a program that has volunteers shopping for seniors with deliveries by city of Bby drivers.
