Hey CBC, don’t do this. It’s not a “proposal.” Having different wording on your website won’t diminish the harm done by having Canada’s national broadcaster treat this as a serious conversation (see below for how it’s being portrayed on the relatively sane CPAC…). Pull out of this disaster now.

C-PAC is a cult gathering, not a convention! This “Third Term Project” poster at CPAC is straight out of the authoritarian playbook. The same people who were screaming about “the deep state” are now openly fantasizing about a dictator-for-life.

Kamala was right. And it only took him less than 30 days to roll over for Putin.

The National Post and all PostMedia mouthpieces are controlled by a right wing Trump supporting hedge fund. Boycott them and #timbittrump Mr Poilievre who relies on them

Instead of Napoleon, Trump should cite Óscar Benavides: "For my friends, anything. For my enemies, the law."

The Maple Leaf Forever.

Great to see this show of unity and leadership from our former Prime Ministers. Canada is so much bigger than our politics.

This is Team Canada at work 🇨🇦

Canadian MP Charlie Angus while vowing to call Trump's trade war bluff on CNN just now, "This isn't gunboat diplomacy (laughs). I mean, this is like an Al Capone shakedown in his syphilis phase."

Jasmine Crockett: "The problem is that Americans thought it was okay to take a full fledged criminal and make him the President of the US and then they want to act aghast when he does criminal things. Let me tell you, we have a thug in charge of the US and if we don't wake up we may not have a US"

RONALD REAGAN (1988): We should be aware of the demagogues who are ready to declare a trade war against our friends, weakening our economy, our national security, and the entire free world—all while cynically waving the American flag.

Jim Acosta announces on air that he's leaving CNN and says, "it is never a good time to bow down to a tyrant ... don't give in to the lies."

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers. This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder. Auschwitz took time.

Song of the day: A Man's a Man for a That "Then let us pray that come it may, As come it will for a’ that, That Sense and Worth, o’er a’ the earth Shall bear the gree an’ a’ that. That Man to Man the world o’er Shall brothers be for a’ that." www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WHI...

Brilliant.

Do me a kindness! Share this if you love and support your local library & librarians (and remember: that includes your school library & school librarian) 😊📚 Thank you libraries & library workers… for everything ✨💚

I needed this.

There is nothing inevitable about fascism. They are only succeed if we lose sight our strengths and stop trusting each other. I know the goodness of immigrants to Canada. I know the goodness of ordinary Yanks. But I can spot a predatory shitbird at a 1,000 miles. Here's a reflection from Germany:

Ann Telnaes resigned after the Washington Post editorial page killed her cartoon. It’s worth a share. Big Tech executives are bending the knee to Donald Trump and it’s no surprise why: Billionaires like Jeff Bezos like paying a lower tax rate than a public school teacher.

Canadian metaphors for living next to the US Pierre Trudeau, 1969: “sleeping with an elephant. No matter how friendly and even-tempered…one is affected by every twitch and grunt” Charles Angus, 2024: “living in an apartment above a meth lab”

Regarding the latest Conservative scheme to force an election just as Trump comes to power: I didn't survive 21 years in Parliament defending a working class and Indigenous constituency to get played for a sucker by Pierre Poilievre and his Vichy Conservatives. www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4bd...
