The way to peace

A 🧵on taking risks. We live with a temptation to divide the world into “them” & “us”. We have a natural tendency to want to stick with the people we perceive as being “like us” & distance ourselves from those we think of as “other”.

Today the church remembers St. Photini, the Samaritan Woman at the well. She told everyone she met of the Living Water. Nero tortured her and threw her in a dry well. Morning: Ps 119:145-176 Evening: Ps 128, 129, 130 Office Readings Ruth 2:1-13 2 Corinthians 1:23—2:17 Matthew 5:21-26

Dear Lord, thank you for the gift of a new day. May all that I do today be done with love 💕 and for your glory. #Morningprayer

How to love your enemies. Really. Jesus's command to love our enemies is no less radical (or difficult) than it was when he first uttered it. But it is possible. Here is a way forward. A reflection on today's Gospel: outreach.faith/2025/02/how-...

A 🧵on love. Today’s gospel goes to the very heart of what it is to be a Christian, the call to love and compassion. We all know the importance of love, how it can shape and form us. We all have some experience of how it’s lack can undermine and damage us.

I’m sure I have some deaf followers: a Creative Writing PhD applicant is researching Deaf representation and Sign Language in Fantasy novels, and looking to speak to D/deaf or sign-user members about their experiences with sign and how they could see it in a fantasy setting. Let me know if…

Legalising assisted dying in England and Wales ‘may hamper suicide prevention work’

#BritishLibrary #MedievalWomen #MedievalWomenInTheirOwnWords Just back from a really enjoyable time at the @britishlibrary exhibition Medieval Women in their own words. Brilliant exhibition. Am glad I made it before it ends.

A 🧵 on putting on the mind of Christ. There’s an undeniable tension between human thinking and God’s thinking. It comes up again and again in Scripture. From Isaiah to St Paul we hear a version of God’s word to Isaiah: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts and your ways are not my ways…”

It won't capture the headlines but Labour has met its pledge for 2m extra hospital appointments. A close relation is having cataracts treated 5 days after diagnosis. Unsexy but important stuff.
