And even better, if the hacky thing fails due to an edge case you could not possibly have foreseen, you wont get fired.

I write the lyrics, work out the melody, find the chords, play. Its a mechanical process but it works. Find a writing prompt, even a stupid one, and force it. It will work, and you may luck into something great.
