I've now heard from several InternetNZ folks that the Taxpayer Union and Free Speech Union are trying for a takeover of InternetNZ and are flooding the membership rolls with their supporters. We need to ensure they can't take it over: internetnz.nz/membership/

Why do they have pictures on the wall of people in white coats looking at complex machines and vials of blood at the blood test clinic and not pictures of sandy beaches and smiling puppies? #UXfails

A thread of useful things. I'd add that maintaining control of a state requires money and emotional energy. Everything that saps those resources leaves the regime weaker, and there are all sorts of easy, petty ways to contribute to that.

Listened to Troye Sivan’s album Something To Give Each Other again today and bless him. His passion and love of his art is so inspiring. I already know no one is going to be ready for whatever he has up his sleeve next.

Everyone is on about Compass group producing that shitty level of food for $3. What no-one seems to be taking into account, is that they're producing that level of food for likely $1. You don't honestly believe that they're doing it at break even costings right? #nzpol

Decades of underinvestment in health got us here. The system is breaking—underfunding, burnout, soaring living costs, and GP waitlists out of control. The biggest failure? The govt won’t train the health staff we need. Future planning. No more excuses—make health education free now. #NZPol #Health

When we invest in public goods like public transport, public housing, education, health and, yes, proper school lunches, we get a healthy return on investment. This is often ignored when investments are framed simply as “costs”. We need to get better at communicating the value of such investments.

I want to be him

Debating reactionaries is *never* a good idea You might win on 'facts', but you'll always lose politically: they are not arguing in good faith, they want their ideas to become seen as acceptable in public discourse And by debating them, you're giving them what they want It really is that simple

MINISTRY OF WORKS, MINISTRY OF WORKS, MINISTRY OF WORKS

I'm not sure who is covering the attacks/overall domestic threat but want to make sure this doesn't get missed: one day before, an NZ healthcare worker was sent a threatening letter (from a group w/connections to attackers) about providing gender-affirming care: bsky.app/profile/mike...

I've caught up on the shit fuckery from a certain Hate Monger and his SS wannabe Black Shirts But I also see failure of the State cracking down with maximum force and the 4th Estate mainly NZME enable yesterday through failure of what actual reporting is. A choice needs to be made.

Insane blood and soil shit happening already

also, like, just offer to pick up groceries for the old lady next door. there are opportunities to help fucking *everywhere*, but what y'all actually want is to play at being the protagonist in a first-person shooter without risking your own necks.

I stand by the opinion that a robot vacuum is one of the best splurge investments an adult can make in this age

Do Gen Z even know about the concept of double spaces after a full stop? Or is this becoming esoteric knowledge

Fava bean protein powder is my favourite so far yes it can taste like broad beans (cause it is, let’s not stray too far from god’s light here) but you know what? I like broad beans
