41. Mississippi Burning (Amazon, 1988) Watched for Gene but also for, I dunno, America. It's even better than I remembered. Alan Parker isn't some great stylist but he gets it done. Everyone in this is great from Dafoe and Hackman to Dourif and McDormand. This shit is just outside my lifetime.

40. Grand Theft Hamlet (mubi, 2024) A simple, daft idea becomes a really touching and very funny celebration of creativity and friendship and doing stupid shit just because you can.

They've still got it ❤️ youtu.be/oEEIU-WrorY?...

Just read a description of Lee Brilleaux as 'a demented caravan park owner', which has made my day

Acoustic(ish) reworkings of the Funeral For Justice album recorded while the band were stuck in the states while Niger was experiencing a military coup. Incredible record.

Even a decade ago I'd have thought this was borderline unlistenable but yesterday found myself joining in with the yodelling while shopping in Fenwick's Food Hall youtu.be/QZ6lB7FKxi8?... Also, a decade ago you'd never have found me in Fenwick's Food Hall

Excellent tune from the I'm Not Here soundtrack youtu.be/uUq8CufWDns?... Gnight folks

39. The Monkey (Tyneside, 2025) I dunno. Some smart ideas and pleasingly gory deaths but it felt like two or three films bolted together, and not that well. On the smart < > dumb spectrum it veered a little too far to the latter

38. I'm Still Here (Tyneside, 2024) This is astonishing. Everything is just right, from the music to the light to the pacing to the performances - Fernanda Torres is unbelievable but so is everybody else. It's about all the big stuff - politics, family, loss memory... 1/2

Mmmm mould

Realised I didn't own this. Now own this.

Well this is fucking awful BBC News - www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c7... Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate leave Romania on jet bound for Florida, sources tell BBC - live updates - BBC News

Pouring one out for one of the best to do it "Anybody interested in grabbing a couple of burgers and hittin' the cemetery?"

Gnight folks youtu.be/nEUfaiRe31c?...

37. The Automat (d/l, 2021) I can't believe it took me so long to get round to this because it's absolutely lovely. The affection from the interviewees is infectious and I'm sad I'll never get to eat a slice of lemon meringue pie in an automat.

Really sad to hear we've lost Roberta Flack. Her first two albums especially are absolute golden and I've played lots on my radio show and in the house. An incredible voice youtu.be/C39ltA1nvUc?... Adiõs Roberta

A compact but friendly Lazy Sunday followed by surprise party birthday karaoke for Beccy (happy birthday) that I snuck into. I renewed my vow to only lose my karaoke cherry if it's me and Dunstan doing Uptown Top Ranking. This is my favourite thing I played at Lazy Sunday youtu.be/kjNkrlLiJQg?...

Could a coder with plenty of spare time please create a website that aggregates all the mail order record shops? So if I want a record, I search on the site and it trawls Juno, Norman, Sounds Of The Universe, Honest Jon's etc and returns results on stock and price. Kthxbai
