Important to comment with solid evidence and multiple arguments. With fewer staff, they’ll have a harder time meeting APA standards for proper response.

AP is banned from WH events and all the other legacy journalists walk right in. If this was the 60s, we know who would have been with the Freedom Riders, and who would’ve been writing about them from a safe place. AP stands alone. Sad but true.

An excellent analysis, well worth reading: nymag.com/intelligence...

In a popular front, we join arms and march together with anyone and everyone who is ready to stand up for democracy, no matter what other policy positions they hold

Rep. Malliotakis (R-NY) now also expressing opposition to deep #Medicaid cuts required under House GOP budget resolution. But will more moderate House members hold the line? Key will be getting big enough group willing to voice public (not just private) opposition. thehill.com/homenews/514...

Musk now calling for people at 60 Minutes to go to prison.

State AGs are looking for federal workers who have just been illegally fired to stand as litigants in a new lawsuit trying to freeze further action by DOGE. DM me if that’s you and you’re interested and you’re live in one of the following states: NM, AZ, CA, CT, MD, MI, MN, NV, OR, WA, RI, or VT.

democracy in michigan and wisconsin was crushed to the point of near-irreversibility until 2020 -- vastly worse than what trump seems likely to be able to do before 2028 -- and we fought back, inch by inch, until we took it back, despite Republicans having both structural advantages and real support

Hooray for NAACP!!

NAACP lists companies that dump DEI in its tactical spending guide for Black Americans

If you have recommendations for articles about the impact of DOGE’s so-called “DEI” cuts on disability access/entitlements/inclusion programs, let me know ⬇️ 👇

The most important thing anyone can do right now is pressure every Republican in their state. Show up at their events. Show up at their offices. Make them look at what they’re doing to the Constitution.

To probationary federal employees who have been terminated: Democracy Forward has filed a first-of-its-kind class-wide complaint with the Office of Special Counsel. If civil servants want to join in the complaint, you can email [email protected]

As @motherjones.com's disability reporter, I'm also happy to get tips via Signal re this at juliametraux.49

The Gulf of America

One of our supporters shared this with us—people are getting creative tonight!

Oh so that’s what he’s doing with all the Cybertrucks he couldn’t sell

I almost always take a man with me to hospital. I find that HCWs are more likely to mask up when a male advocate is there. I also find they listen more & are less likely to brush me off. The first time in years I went alone? The HCW refused to mask. Misogyny in medicine is still a huge problem

If it's an enemy of Putin, it's an enemy of Musk. Musk will now destroy Radio Liberty and Voice of America.

This is the most relevant article to NIH and research cuts I’ve seen. Imagine if this was today , how many people would be saying “Why are we studying Gila Monsters and their impact on diabetes ? That’s wasted money !” globalnews.ca/news/9793403...

If they succeed in taking down USAID, other agencies will go next. Vought is already trying to end the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. We have to stop this autocratic power grab now.

Very clear agenda: absolute power, unaccountable to anyone. A would-be dictator on Day 1. The big surprise: it's mainly Musk holding the reins.

A corrupt billionaire trying to kill the agency that protects Americans against exploitation by corrupt billionaires? Screw that! DC: Tomorrow at 4:15pm, we're rallying outside the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. #SaveTheCFPB www.mobilize.us/indivisible/...

Elon Musk just spent $40 million on Super Bowl ads to condemn USAID, an agency he is seeking to destroy. If he succeeds with USAID, other agencies will not be far behind. Let's hear from the Friends of USAID: www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqUE...

Top comment on the recent NYT story on DOGE’s young aides www.nytimes.com/shared/comme...

This is new. It’s not just Musk.

This is a confession.

Move fast and break things may be an ok strategy in running a private business—but in overseeing nuclear security for America? When nuclear safeguards break, that’s really not good.

Starkly shows the anti-DEI push is not about fairness—rather, it’s about maximizing the slice of the pie that goes to white, straight, cisgendered men. Who knew?

Americans did not vote for this. Pass the word.

SCOOP: Cats that became infected with bird flu might have spread the virus to humans in the same household and vice versa, according to data that briefly appeared online in a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention but then abruptly vanished. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/06/h...

Around 35% of SpaceX’s revenue comes directly from the federal govt. Less than 1% of NPR’s budget comes from the federal govt.

The American people overwhelmingly oppose Medicaid cuts. Even among Trump voters, more than two-thirds think the program should retain current funding or should grow in size -- not be slashed, as proposed by ultra-right-wing Republicans.

A terrific article in Politico describing effective strategies for combatting terrible administration policies: www.politico.com/news/magazin...

There are in fact votes that are worth sacrificing your political career for, and many senators and representatives have made such votes over the years. Some such votes are coming down the pike soon.

If this happens - and if Musk et al get control of BLS - then all economic bets are off. I can’t say it any more plainly than that.

From my friend Enrique Davis Mazlum:
