Dear @chrishipkins.bsky.social You could look to Canada and to Australia for political inspiration right now... ... or you could look to the UK for political inspiration, but I wouldn't advise it. Please choose wisely. We wouldn't want to be seen as the Texas of the South Pacific now, would we?

If they cant vote then we need to admit that prison isnt about rehabilitation. If the goal is to have these people released as members of society, ready to do their part, then we can't take away the one thing they can do from prison, that involves thinking of themselves as part of that very society.

And also... ... if you ran the Govt like a rich CEO runs their personal finances? Then you'd ALSO treat borrowing as a business-as-usual way of operating rather than something to be avoided. After all, spending you capital is a great way to reduce your net worth. www.youtube.com/shorts/J3UVM...

Dear world, If they're stupid enough to go nuclear, please don't doom all humanity by stepping in with your own weapons to make it so much worse. The only thing worse that such an epic tragedy would be to pointlessly make a bigger tragedy of it.

Oh dear. That analysis places the AoNZ economy in a private household debt bubble. It's neither stable nor sustainable long term. The only question is whether some external pin is going to randomly prick it, or whether we'll find out how large the bubble can get before it bursts on its own.

There's something incredibly patronising and dismissive in Nicola Willis describing slashing the operating budget by almost half as "there will be no lolly scramble" Just monstrous language to describe austerity measures that are social murder.

Winston Peters, the politician who brought you the gold card, is now scrabbling around in the toilet bowl of politics yelling about biological sex, trans people and conspiratorial nonsense. Even for him, this is a new and extremely distressing low. What a weird, sad end to a politician.

Now, I'm not saying the man is cursed or evil, or something... ... but JD Vance was snubbed by the Pope just yesterday, after he went to meet him following the Pope's criticism of the Trump Administration. And now he's dead. The Pope, that is. That's faster than after Liz Truss met the Queen.

Please more cisgender people do this. Read @jessothomson.co.uk's and @goodlawproject.bsky.social's articles on the impact of the supreme court ruling and demand primary legislation to urgently safeguard trans rights.

This doesn't only apply to the UK.
