I saw the new Wes Anderson movie last night. It continues a 2025 movie trend of mediocre films that I was really looking forward to (Mikey 17, M:I Final Reckoning). There's still a ton of films coming this year that I'm anticipating, so a few of these have to be bangers, right?

Zack Wheeler knows what he likes. He has no time for everything else. And, at 35, he’s achieved a rare nirvana: www.nytimes.com/athletic/639...

Good for Michelle Yeoh? 😬😵‍💫

I told you we’d be back

Not surprised it’s ending at 5. That seems to be the end for these modern Star Trek shows. But not even getting a “full” 10 episodes seems to indicate things are bad at Paramount & the future of this current era of Star Trek is very much in question.

Honestly perfect timing for this gem from @justinklugh.bsky.social

This is why I pay for The Athletic to read words written by Matt.

Saw two puppies on my walk to pick up muffins this morning. No invasion.

It sure was something listening to this podcast episode and then seeing the Strange New Worlds trailer an hour or so later.

I watched that Strange New Worlds trailer. If you know me, you know I don’t like that show. I try to ignore it. But I truly hate that show’s depiction of Spock. I don’t know what these creatives are thinking.

I’ve been pretty mixed on the “Delta Flyers” podcast, but have gotten into it a bit with their DS9 reviews. I’ve checked in here and there. But it seems they’ve finally gotten to DS9 season 4, and I’m fairly confident I’ll be weekly listener moving forward. DS9 seasons 4-7 remain the best of Trek

Listen, the Musk/Trump feud was an obvious hilarious end. This was sure to happen. But they’re both selfish assholes, neither of who have our best interest in mind. Don’t lose sight of that.

I wish I could buy stock in ketamine right now.

My wife and I went open sea kayaking for 10 miles off of Kauai’s Napali coast the other day. Hands down one of the most strenuous physical experiences of my life. And due to the sea conditions, this was me the entire time

Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, directed by Leonard Nimoy (Spock), was released 41 years ago today. This generous film gave us the Earth Spacedock, the USS Excelsior, the Klingon Bird-of-Prey, the Merchantman & the Oberth-class. 🖖

Vacation thoughts: the same franchise that gave us The Next Generation also gave us Section 31. Some real highs and lows in Star Trek.

A 3-movie day on a 7+ hour flight to Kauai -The French Connection (blind spot — great!) -Presence (love Soderberg’s willingness to experiment. Ok movie) -Captain America: Brave New World (godawful. Had to google what the hell was going on. If you tapped out of MCU, this will be a rough experience)

MLB only gets a few federal holiday Mondays. For some reason, the league can't figure out that there should be a full schedule of games. This is absolute easiest thing they can do, but nope.

I have a 7+ hour flight tomorrow. Feels like a good time to finally watch Once Upon a Time in America. But doesn’t really feel like a “plane” movie…

It is nearly midnight in Denver. I’m watching a live Phillies game continue. And it is a wild game.

😬

Time for Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning

You may now do the Eagles chants

I loathe these stupid Eagles chants during Phillies games when they're winning. Stop this shit.

The Rockies beat the Yankees lol

I watch a lot of baseball and it’s difficult to lose as many games as the Colorado Rockies have lost.

My wife, my friends, & I in the background as Kyle Schwarber as he hits his 300th home run. Big night for us all, really.

Kyle Schwarber's 300th career homer banged off the upper-deck facade at Coors Field. It went 466 feet. Not a bad way to do it.

He did it!!! 300 dingers for Kyle Schwarber!

Kyle Schwarber is sitting on 299 career home runs. I feel pretty good at seeing number 300 tonight at Coors Field against a dreadful Rockies team.

Today is a good day because I get to see my Philadelphia Phillies play baseball in person.

Craving that year or so when Terry Matalas just teased Picard season 3 with pictures. In hindsight, it was great marketing. But man, the fan dissection and speculation was so much fun. I really miss that period of time.

Bummer for the delay, but definitely order this. Almost all of the “art of” books for the Star Trek franchise are fantastic

No matter how many times I see it in baseball, it never stops being cool seeing someone make their major league debut. So much joy. And that was a heck of a first inning for the Phillies & Mick Abel

The significance of this loss cannot be over stated. This may change the course of the Phillies season given the state of the bullpen

It’s a fuckin sham how there are billionaires and there are also people living on the street.

Maybe the next new Star Trek show should have a target demographic of babies so we could get fans from the earliest stages of life. That will grow the fan base for sure!

It feels like this is a pretty important trailer for DC and it opening the way it did was odd. Superman getting quickly irritated by a few standard questions? I dunno, man. I get they’re trying to evoke the famous scene from the original film, but I immediately didn’t like this Superman.

This year's Aaron Nola is not great.

Agree with Patton on this one. ANDOR is an excellent drama with the veneer of Star Wars.
