In an attempt to try and get my wife to pace herself and prioritise, I’ve let the washing build up with other things taking priority. This is my new record

If you see this post a game character and pass it on

I just popped onto X as some of the Sheffield press post match updates on there and not here. Sweet baby Jesus, what on earth is that cesspool now? Apparently the UK is an authoritarian country… Claiming that Trump is effectively god, musk is Jesus… I think they’ve all been on the holy spirits.

10/10 soundtracks across generations (obviously square snuck in there too)

1 hour game review - how the game feels after an hour of play and how likely I am to play more or complete it. Persona 5 Royal Slow starter with a lot of dialogue but once you get to the first castle and start getting into the combat and the meat of the story then it kicks up a gear PM: 9 Com: 7

So what has doing 20 games in 20 days taught me? Gaming is not about ultra-realism or flashy graphics. It’s not about how hard we can push the limits of the hardware, it’s about the stories, the connections it gives us with friends and family. The games on my list aren’t all AAA… (1/?)

Day 20/20: Baldur’s Gate 3 (PC) Story, Gameplay, Strategy. Larian Studios made my perfect game. It gave me a closer link with our “adopted daughter”, made me cancel gamepass as I wasn’t playing anything but this for a year and led me back to being a DM. #bg3 #rpg #gaming #d&d @larianstudios.com

Day 19: Overwatch (Xbox One) I can’t stand FPS games, but give me a chance to be a healer where aim isn’t everything and map awareness is key? I’m all over it. Hundreds of hours as a Mercy main was part of my short stint of twitch streaming I really enjoyed. #overwatch #gaming #twitch #videogames

Day 18: Telltale’s The Walking Dead (Xbox 360) The story. I hadn’t felt this drawn in to a story for a long time in gaming and this just sucked me in. I legitimately cried at the ending to this game, something I hadn’t done as an adult. #gaming #videogames #walkingdead #telltale #storybased

Day 17: Wii Sports (Wii) For a while, I found a lot of games became stale and repetitive and found that sharing gaming with my wife was almost impossible as she hated most gaming experiences. Then the Wii came along with Wii Sports. Then I could share my gaming with her for the first time. #gaming

Day 16: Championship Manager 01/02 (PC) The entire CM/FM series is addictive, but this was peak moments for me. The 2 player LAN game with my mate saw me come out on top thanks to the goat… Cherno Samba. Who’s this Messi guy? #fm25 #pc #gaming #retrogames

Day 15: Metal Gear Solid (PS1) Our shared house at uni had my N64 and someone’s PS1 (though back then it was just called PlayStation) and this was the game we all collaborated on to complete. We all sat dumbstruck when we realised what it took to beat Psycho Mantis #ps1 #retrogames #videogames

Give me the strength to accept the things I cannot change. Give me the courage to change the things that I can Give me the wisdom to see the difference between the two. No matter how bad things get at times, don’t cling onto the things you can’t change. That will destroy you. Some things just are

Day 14: Goldeneye 007 (N64) Trying to complete the single player game on 007 difficulty was one this, but this game created SO many multiplayer memories at uni. The agreement that Oddjob be banned and the 5 foot tall woman jumping up and down screaming “die die die” #N64 #videogames #retrogames

Day 13: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) Christmas Day 1998, back from University and sat on a sofa the entire day except dinner with a TV, an N64 and this game, not spending it with my family but exploring Hyrule field and falling in love with Epona. #n64 #gaming #games #retrogames #zelda

Day 12: Civilisation IV (PC) In fairness, this is the whole series, starting with the original on the Amiga and up to 6, which is one of my most played games of the last 2 years. It grabs me like no other series has and just highlights the “one more turn” feel. #games #videogames #civ6

Day 11: Cannon Fodder (Amiga 1200) Simple and addictive, source of inspiration for many rts games, but most memorable for me as the game my dad became so addicted to that he would sit in my room as I slept to play it and wake me for tips. #games #videogames #retrogames #amiga
