I'm working on a rather extensive application for an art grant. The last section asks "Is there anything else you want the panel to know?" and the last thing I included was "All of the words in this application were written by me, unaided by any AI."

Bottom Trawlers are just so destructive. And an unnecessary, destructive, wasteful, and inefficient way to harvest fish. This video shows the underwater truth of trawlers.

Happy May Day!

Today’s minus tide superstars are the chitons! #marinelife 🦑 #intertidal #minustide #kachemakbay #alaska #tutkabay

Bobtail squid in the intertidal today. #marinelife #tutkabay #cephalopod #alaska

We are in Tutka Bay (Kachemak Bay, AK) for this minus tide cycle. Lots of Evasterias, a dozen or so Pycnopodia, many Dermasterias (w some tiny babies!) and all the other usual suspects. We found a Giant Sea Peach (12”!), the largest I have seen. More to come today 🦑 #marinelife #seastars #intertidal

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love the mix of SciFi and Hawaiian pidgin. The characters are terrific. And the ending... did not disappoint (and was not anticipated). Mahalo Makana for a great read. I will be looking for more of your writing!

If you have never watched the retrieval of the #Okeanos Explorer's ROV, now is a good time to tune in!! Camera 3 shows multiple views. oceanexplorer.noaa.gov/livestreams/... #NOAA EX2503 dive 3 #Papahānaumokuākea #MarineLife 🦑

Another day, another dive. Pls note, originally today was a transit day, but due to a weather window, there WILL be a dive today. Tune in for the livestream. It's like scuba diving without getting wet! www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DAj... #OkeanosExplorer EX2503 dive 4 #Papahānaumokuākea #MarineLife 🦑

Gorgeous stalked crinoid. Zoomed in this close we can see the white "Fuzzy" appendages on the feathery pinnules that branch off the arms. #OkeanosExplorer EX2503 dive 3 #Papahānaumokuākea #MarineLife 🦑 #crinoid

Look at that Face!!! #OkeanosExplorer EX2503 dive 3 #Papahānaumokuākea #MarineLife 🦑

The resolution on the cameras on #okeanos ROV is amazing. #OkeanosExplorer EX2503 dive 3 #Papahānaumokuākea #MarineLife 🦑

I'm trying to stay present for all the great things being found on today's dive, while also working on the layout for a foraging guide. #multitasking Thanks, Lisa for posting so many of today's finds!

Nice anemone! #OkeanosExplorer EX2503 dive 3 #Papahānaumokuākea #MarineLife 🦑

Want to learn more about crinoids? @echinoblog.bsky.social has this: echinoblog.blogspot.com/2014/05/stal... #marinelife #crinoid

This potentially undescribed crinoid is the first sample of Dive 3! #OkeanosExplorer EX2503 dive 3 #Papahānaumokuākea #MarineLife 🦑

The ROV is descending to depth now (takes a while!) , so a good time to make sure you have a tab open with the livestream for when we start to view the life at the seafloor and seamount. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DAj... #OkeanosExplorer EX2503 dive 3 #Papahānaumokuākea #MarineLife 🦑

Oh cool! In addition to the ROV livestream video of dives, NOAA is mapping the sea floor. Here are some seafloor maps of the area below Okeanos Explorer showing the seamount area that is being explored. #OkeanosExplorer EX2503 dive 3 #Papahānaumokuākea #MarineLife 🦑

And here's a look at the control room and the people who are running and monitoring the testing going on right now on the deck.

Morning prep of ROV before Dive 3. Hydraulics, cameras, propulsion, etc are all checked. #OkeanosExplorer Dive 3 #Papahānaumokuākea #MarineLife 🦑

Just watched the ascent of Deep Discoverer ROV from almost 5K meters depth and its retrieval onto the deck of NOAA's Okeanos Explorer. Here you see one of the crew removing a cylindrical specimen bio-box with one of the collected specimens from today. #OkeanosExplorer EX2503 dive 2 #MarineLife 🦑

When the Okeanos Explorer ROV finds something unique or unknown or rare, sometimes the scientists request a sample collection. The robotic arms and bio-boxes for retrieval are especially interesting to watch. #OkeanosExplorer EX2503 dive 2 #Papahānaumokuākea #MarineLife 🦑

Gorgeous seastar. #OkeanosExplorer EX2503 dive 2 #Papahānaumokuākea #MarineLife #echinoderm 🦑

Some more views of that Massive radiolarian! (Screen capture fun!)

Huge radiolarian!! Wow. #okeanos #MarineLife #deepsea

Just a reminder of some of the amazing work that NOAA does. This Okeanos expedition, which ANYONE can watch live, is only one example. #okeanos #marinelife
