"Three years on from the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the crowd that gathered in London was not just there to mourn but to demand action." Report from today's Ukraine Solidarity protest, which we were proud to support.

Thousands are here outside the Russian embassy in London to say "Russian troops out of Ukraine!" After Trump's treachery, our Governments must provide Ukraine with all the military and financial aid other needs to defeat Russia and win a just peace. Europe can do this🇪🇺🇬🇧🇺🇦 #StandWithUkraine

Trump's US is, at best, no longer a reliable ally – and at worst has effectively switched sides. Politicians are not yet reckoning with this. It's not just "another Trump thing", it's the breakdown of the postwar international order. The UK needs to get much closer to its real allies – in Europe.

Global crisis style note: What Trump is doing to Ukraine is not 'blackmail', which would be demand for payment under threat of exposure of compromising information*. This is demand for payment under threat of violence/refusal to protect from violence. The word is 'extortion'.

Ah yes, that famously woke institution (checks notes) the US military

We stand with everyone attending today's Ukraine solidarity marches.

France's National Rally has withdrawn from CPAC because it is too far right for their... far right party. Liz Truss still spoke, though.

The far right are stunned, stunned, that someone would make a Nazi salute at their far right conference

People need to get out of the mindset where every EU-UK negotiation is about "the UK giving the EU something" or "the EU giving us something". There are thousands of issues – all the way up to rejoining – where we become mutually better and stronger. It's not a contest, it's cooperation.

Our position on youth mobility: "Today’s news on youth mobility is a big win, with the British government finally prepared to negotiate a scheme with the EU. There are many flaws in the reported UK counter-proposal... However, making any proposal means that negotiations can finally open."

Bannon has a bit of a "I can't afford to sue all of you if you call it a Nazi salute" half heartedness to it that Musk's didn't.

Youth mobility: it looks like they're going to do it. Well done to everyone who wrote to their MP. And well done to the EU for standing firm on the issue. It shows that even when the government is talking down the prospects of something happening, we shouldn't take that at face value.

People ask "where is Farage?" but you have to remember that he has a lot of pretend farming to do

Some politicians thought it was clever to go around saying "Trump is a great guy and that's why he'll support Ukraine", in the hopes that it would make him support Ukraine. Spoiler: this did not work.

"""audit"""

"Nigel Farage has declared he has handed over Reform UK to its 200,000 members, but the party now appears to be owned by a not-for-profit company controlled by its leader and chair." Surprise! More lies from Farage.

We continue to stand firmly in solidarity with Ukraine. Ukrainians must be able to truly determine their own future freely. Join us on the @ukrainesol.bsky.social march this Saturday 🇺🇦✊

It's simple: Russia is not on our side. The US is not on our side. Europe is on our side.

Genuinely on the look out for sightings of Conservatives - MPs, present or past, commentators - who are as outspoken in their solidarity with Ukraine today as they were when doing so carried no potential penalty in getting on the wrong side of Maga.

President Zelensky is not a dictator. Starmer is going to meet Trump next week to "talk about Ukraine". Talk about being on a hiding to nothing... a "bridge" to nowhere.

Turns out that all that 'Suella's actually much nicer in person than you'd imagine' might not be so accurate after all - not according to this excerpt from Rishi Sunak's Chief Whip, Simon Hart's tell-all diaries, published next week:

"Boris Johnson is charging £121 for a handshake and a photograph before a live event in Edinburgh." But how much NOT to get a handshake and a photograph?

Thank you Sadiq for speaking out!

When someone outside the UK says "this is our Brexit", they never ever mean that something good is happening

So excited, my "benefits of Brexit" tea towel just turned up

"You should have never started it" - Trump to Ukraine, blaming them for Russia's invasion

"I’m a proud European and of the view that Brexit was a mistake that continues to have a negative impact — not just on my city and country, but on the European community as a whole." - Sadiq Khan

Spain has high immigration and it has given them a booming economy. Some people don't like immigration. We know that – we certainly hear enough about it. But don't ever let them claim that immigration is a cost: it's simply factually untrue. Boosting the working-age population boosts the economy.

This is what happens if democratic states know that hybrid warfare is going on, but decide to look the other way until there is a full-scale invasion. There is a reason why Russia Today UK was launched in 2014, months after the annexation of Crimea.

Ursula von der Leyen calls it an "emergency" – and she's right. It's no use, as is current government policy, trying to act as a "bridge" between the US and Europe. That bridge does not lead anywhere that Europe wants to go. It leads only to darkness. It's time to pick a side. Choose Europe.

For the entire period that these Reform fools celebrate as a golden age, the UK was a member of the EEC and then the EU.

"UK does not have workers to build 1.5 million homes" This is the truth about immigration – and about freedom of movement too. It is not a burden. It is not a "cost" we have to pay. It is the workers who build our houses – and so much else. Without them, it won't get done.

Puppets fight over who gets to sit on the orange hand

"Three options to dodge an economic crisis" Raise taxes, cut spending or borrow more. But there is a fourth option: economic growth. How to get it? Rejoin the EU.

"MPs said any discussion about replacing another leader would make them look absurd" And yet keeping Kemi also makes them look absurd. Absurd if you do, absurd if you don't!

JD Vance says Europe has a problem with democracy. That's the US vice president who is currently threatening to unconstitutionally overrule US courts.

What can you do? THIS. Be there next Saturday - and show the world, America included, that Europe is united with Ukraine. 🇪🇺🇺🇦🇪🇺🇺🇦🇪🇺🇺🇦🇪🇺🇺🇦🇪🇺

How to be a Tory in two steps: 1. Be rubbish 2. Blame everyone else

What’s the point in refusing citizenship to refugees who have ‘made a dangerous journey’? What’s the point in publishing footage of people being deported? I’m sorry to say that this is simply a continuation of the performative cruelty we saw from the Conservatives.

It's deeply strange how people are capable of understanding that emigration (people leaving the UK) is an economic loss, but not the obvious opposite, that immigration is an economic gain

What you are seeing this morning over the refugee decision is Labour alienating and offending its remaining liberal supporters without bringing any new voters onside.

It's over 100,000! That means a debate in Parliament. Let's keep it rolling.
