This will probably get the least attention of all Trump's moves, but it is, in the fullness of history, the most monstrous & genocidal.

Narrator from the future: it didn’t

100000% this — do not spend time shooting down people who are *doing resistance*: we have to do all the boycotts, protests, lawsuits, ALL OF IT, to minimize harm wherever we can, find the fash's weak spots, and get the normies to realize their lives are fucked unless they do something.

Thank you Paul! At the national scale (27 EU member states), we found that renewable energy investment decreases energy-related injustices, while changes in GDP do not have a discernible effect. In our model, long-term unemployment and income inequality emerged as the key drivers of #energypoverty.

I think this is my favourite report cover of all time. Any others?

The JustHousing project has a website. With @kevincredit.bsky.social & Fiadh Tubridy, we're working with community orgs & the Community Action Tenants Union (CATU) to strengthen links between housing + climate justice. The 3 year project is funded by @epaireland.bsky.social mu.ie/justhousing

'Community-based energy governance and the political: Towards a post-foundational energy democracy'. A new paper led by @hayatokoga.bsky.social (w @saskapetrova.bsky.social), offering alternative understandings of #energycommunities & #energyjustice (#energysky, #geosky) doi.org/10.1177/2753...

"The US is on the cusp of a natural gas power plant construction boom, as Big Tech turns to fossil fuels to meet the huge electricity needs of the artificial intelligence revolution — putting climate targets in peril" www.ft.com/content/63c3...

As ever, to reactionary elites, "freedom of speech" is about being allowed to abuse the powerless, while silencing anyone who pushes back.

Excellent article "Meta, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft and a majority of tech platforms are at war with the user, and, in the absence of any kind of consistent standards or effective regulations, the entire tech ecosystem has followed suit." #tech #enshittification www.wheresyoured.at/never-forgiv...

Entirely corroborates our experience in the energy and climate policy fields

'Help us simplify EU grant applications': A worthwhile cause if I ever saw one

We shouldn’t be burning stuff anymore. We shouldn’t be building houses out of materials with high embodied carbon when alternatives are available. And we certainly shouldn’t be giving them the RIBA House of the Year Award. lloydalter.substack.com/p/should-a-r...

Some thoughts here on why moving towards a low-carbon future requires community solidarity and a #repair ethos (cc: #geosky, #energysky). Thank you @placesjournal.bsky.social‬ for giving me the opportunity to explore everyday retrofit practices alongside such a brilliant set of contributors.

Our Head of Wales @bensaltmarsh.bsky.social gave evidence yesterday to the Senedd Equality and Social Justice Committee on the scale of #FuelPoverty, need to ramp up investment in the Warm Homes Programme, and ensure we maximise opportunities to drive up standards and tackle avoidable inequalities.

New paper out, with support from @edrc-uk.bsky.social. Geospatial analyses show that coastal, rural, highland & inner-city areas in the UK are most likely to be affected by double energy and transport injustices. We hope this will be of interest to the #energyjustice & #climatejustice community.

A common argument for fossil fuels goes, "Energy is prosperity, energy is mostly fossil, so anti-fossil is anti-prosperity." There's a lot wrong with that argument, but the second part in particular relies on the Primary Energy Fallacy that @janrosenow.bsky.social nicely unpacks in this piece.

An energy transition requires expropriating the entirety of this fossil infrastructure.

Don't forget to sign up to take part in the #NationsBiggestHousewarming this #FuelPovertyAwareness Day! All funds raised will help to support people experiencing fuel poverty across the UK 💛 Find out more and sign up: tinyurl.com/yck6f5hn

I created a starter pack for economic geography and others who are somehow related to the field. If I forgot anyone, let me know (not sure if others can automatically add people). go.bsky.app/R2sg5Xt

I have the feeling that 'follow Friday is somewhat redundant this month, but if your appetite for UK and Europe energy posters is STILL not satisfied, there are some crackers in this new edition...

One week left to apply for these fully funded 3.5 year PhD studentships at the University of Manchester! Please spread the word ... more info @ the links below: 1. 'Governing Housing Retrofit': www.findaphd.com/phds/project... 2. 'The Decarbonisation Divide': www.findaphd.com/phds/project...

First-ever European Parliament public hearing on the responsibilities of fossil fuel companies vis-a-vis the energy crisis. I’ll be speaking about the need to tackle Europe’s growing #energypoverty burden.
