Hey, scientists! 🧪🥼🔬 Check out this incredible resource!

🐐🦍🐅🐖🐬🦔🦇🦒🦘🦙🐄🦓🦭🐆🦡 If you’ve never competed in March Mammal Madness, take this as your sign to join! Just know that I’m finally going to win this year. 🏆 #2025MMM

This account is meant to be a professional account rather than a personal one. So, professionally speaking, does anyone in Atlanta want to adopt this adorable kitten I caught and had spayed? 🙃 Her breed is purr-machine-lovebug. (Professional opinion, of course.) #adopt #kitten #cat #Atlanta

I think we were watching the wrong eagles. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Trapped this stray cat today so I can get it spayed/neutered! I need name recommendations! I wrote down “TBD” for the last cat I had neutered and now he’s my foster cat…and I still call him TBD. 😆 So not only is the name TBD taken, but I clearly need my naming privileges revoked. Help!!!

My favorite boy! Shhh…Don’t tell Kanzi.

When you're a scientist who loves Wicked, you teach students about defying gravity! 💗💚 We made self-watering planters that use capillary action, learned about friction while making DIY hoverboards, and watched carbon dioxide bubbles lift popcorn kernels! #SciComm #3DGirlsInc #ScienceATL

Monday’s NYT crossword 51-across answer is just salt in the academic wound.

This jar is one of my favorite possessions. It has a bead for every student I’ve taught. Today, I added mini brains for my Abnormal Behavior class. 🧠 Spring 2025 Abnormal Behavior 🐥 Fall 2024 Developmetal Psych 🦏 Spring 2024 Animal Behavior 🅰️ Fall 2023 Developmental Psych @phdvoice.bsky.social

A four-year-old told me that he “liked that my eyebrows don’t match.” This is not the harsh feedback I expected to encounter in grad school.

Our next match is happening in a few hours! Get matched with a scientist for a Q&A with your classroom at www.skypeascientist.com/sign-up.html Tell your colleagues! Our program is free and we have LOTS of scientist volunteers this semester 🧪 #EduSky #ScienceEducation #SciTeach #ITeachScience

Hey, you— Drop your shoulders. Unclench your jaw. Relax your hands. Take a deep breath. This is a marathon, not a sprint. And you’re not alone.

dear friends: gentle reminder that things are moving quickly and just because you haven’t seen something reported on yet doesn’t mean it’s the result of suppression or that an outlet “doesn’t care” about the issues. reporting — especially good, thorough reporting — takes time.

Really cool research by Brett Lewis et al., write-up by @bittelmethis.bsky.social, and visuals too: Mushroom corals can walk (s l o w l y) and they migrate for interesting reasons! 🧪🌿 🌊#ecology #marineecology

How much do people around the world trust scientists? "Most people have a relatively high trust in scientists. People want scientists to take an active role in society and policymaking." www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Second request: If you are a professional scientist or science communicator who is at least 18 years old and uses social media (including Bluesky) for professional purposes, please consider taking this survey. 🧪🌎 #SciComm Please help us to share it. umiami.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_...

Here’s my cat tax and shameless plug for my foster cat, TBD! I thought he was a feral cat so I trapped, neutered, and released him. I put “TBD” as his name on his vet forms because I hadn’t even named him. Turns out he’s not feral, just weird. He lives inside now, but his name stuck!

Did you know Bluesky has a setting that will remind you to add alt text before posting? Go to "Settings," then "Accessibility." Select the checkbox for "Require alt text before posting."

Scientists should be communicating their science to the public, because if you aren't, someone else very well could be - and you won't have control over what they say. #SciComm 🧪
