Baltimore Pride conflicted with protests today, but Pride is and was always a protest

There’s a growing trend of big “left wing” influencers/journalists mocking BlueSky for talking too much about ableism, attacking disabled activists, etc. It’s extremely reactionary and insidious to do as eugenics is being full on normalized and our healthcare/public health is being dismantled

If you’re protesting this weekend, consider wearing an n95 mask. It’s harder to fight authoritarianism when you’re sick.

Mass deportation = Eugenics Eliminating science from Dept of Health = Eugenics Eliminating vaccines = Eugenics Cutting Medicaid = Eugenics Cutting Social Security = Eugenics Eliminating medical research = Eugenics Targeting LGBTQ = Eugenics Scrubbing contributions by minorities = Eugenics EUGENICS

My team and I at the Crowd Counting Consortium (@[email protected], Soha Hammam, & Chris Shay) have a new piece out: wagingnonviolence.org/2025/06/amer.... In it, we show that through May 2025, the size and scale of anti-Trump protests have dwarfed those in 2017. 🧵

Long Covid is one of the world’s biggest challenges. A new Science perspective by @zalaly and @EricTopol adds to the calls for governments to take action to meet the challenges posed by Long Covid. Read more: johnsnowproject.org/primers/long...

Parenting students make up a significant share of those enrolled in #CommunityCollege, but finding reliable #ChildCare remains a big barrier to their school success. 🌈 Our #HigherEd expert @stephabaker.bsky.social highlights how campus partnerships can help these students—and their young families.

Black and LGBTQ student groups at Hopkins see administration efforts to dim diversity and equity work. Meanwhile Hopkins started a collaboration w/AEI (pre 2024 election) to bring more conservative voices to campus. www.thebaltimorebanner.com/education/hi...

“For the people who use it, SNAP is often one of two things: a temporary bridge through a rough patch or a supplement to wages that do not cover the basic costs of living.” www.nytimes.com/2025/06/10/o...

Sharing this for everyone I know asking “why aren’t people protesting.” They are and were (even before LA).

if white Americans didn’t want Mexicans in California maybe they should not have conquered California from Mexico and then spent 150 years building up an economy entirely dependent on the flow of people and goods across the border just a thought

An Australian journalist was shot with what’s been reported as a rubber bullet while covering immigration protests in LA. 9News US correspondent Lauren Tomasi was hit in the leg by a non-lethal round fired by an officer in riot gear. Footage shows the officer turn toward the cameras before firing.

The Trump administration is looking to cut funding for already underfunded tribal colleges and universities by nearly 90%. College leaders had not been warned of the proposed cuts nor consulted during the budgeting process. By @mattkrupnick.bsky.social‬

kind of just endlessly sad and grieving that there are so few voices in the public sphere making the basic principled argument that immigration is an affirmative good in every way and the best way for this country to serve humanity is to welcome people who want or need to leave their homes

One after another access journalist is reporting a convo with Trump where Trump says Musk has a problem. None asked why Trump let him have unfettered access to the govt, and our data, for the last four months, then. And what he'll do to make sure Musk didn't do permanent damage.

People will be like, Don’t criticize liberals/Dems it takes away from the fight against maga. Meanwhile establishment Dems are trying to figure out how they can bring the richest man in the world who bought the election for Trump, helped steal our data, and does nazi salutes to their side.

The Chief of the Criminal Division at the US Attorney’s Office/Middle District of Tennessee RESIGNED the same day the Acting US Attorney signed the indictment of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. He writes: “do the right thing, in the right way, for the right reasons.” There are no coincidences.

American antisemitism isn’t people defending Palestinian lives. It’s people in my mentions defending doing business with a man who literally did the Nazi salute — TWICE — at the inauguration of a white supremacist he bought the White House for. You guys. You’re the problem.

Absolutely wild how extremely far right rhetoric on Covid/disabled people, that liberals and leftists rightly attacked MAGA for in 2020, has now been mainstreamed to the point that leftists/liberals are further right on public health than most MAGA people were in 2020. Julia outlines it well here

Congressional Republicans want to expand the Child Tax Credit...to those who need it the least. If you didn't already believe this bill is just one huge gift to the rich, this should convince you.

We joined 170+ orgs in urging Congress: don’t cut #PellGrants! To #ProtectPell, lawmakers must avert a funding shortfall by investing new funds and rejecting any eligibility cuts. The #PellGrant is essential in preserving college access for low- and middle-income families. Read more: buff.ly/k85Cdrf

In 1936, FDR closed out his re-election campaign by bragging to a massive crowd at Madison Square Garden that “organized money” hated him “and I welcome their hatred.” He took 60% of the vote in a 523-8 electoral college landslide. FDR knew having the right enemies could be a useful thing.

I have a lot of ideas, but not the bandwidth to act on many of them which leads me to… Is anyone working on a memorializing COVID deaths/living with long COVID quilt, like the AIDS quilt?

Oh, I’m sorry. Did your rational and logical economic system not account for what if two terminally online men had a falling out?

Please include alt-text in your screenshots of Elon Musk/Donald Trump Jr fighting posts!!! Blind people and other people who use screen readers deserve to know what's happening.

And yet our politicians never talk about making Walmart pay living wages and provide healthcare to all employees…

I’m going to lose my mind if centrist Dems/any Dems/any one hasn’t learned their lesson with Musk. He is still the enemy even if fighting with Trump.

Cuts to SNAP, Medicaid, + Medicare put ALL of us in danger. If you want a semblance of a safety net because others need it now, because you might need it one day, and/or because the economic threats to hospitals, farmers, +beyond will impact all of us -call your senators + tell them to oppose cuts.
