if I can, I always prefer to buy directly from the maker, the farmer, the developer

Obsidian 1.8.10 introduces a new vault location option for Android. With the new app storage option, your data is stored in Obsidian’s private app storage. This keeps your data isolated from other apps for added privacy. Learn more: help.obsidian.md/android

if you're using Tailwind you should still also use semantic class and ID names in your HTML to make your content more parseable (e.g. read-it-later apps)

if you're wondering why this or that feature hasn't been added to Obsidian, remember we only have three full-time developers (and not trying to grow the team)

currently @obsidian.md for Android requires full file access permissions because it's necessary for certain third-party sync tools and interoperability — but some users prefer narrower permissions in an upcoming version we're adding this option, do the tradeoffs make sense here?

E. M. Forster predicted the gradual decline of Spotify and Sonos in his 1909 short story The Machine Stops: "I can never be sure of my music now. It gets worse and worse each time I summon it."

every time I open Spotify more tracks are grayed out, the songs are no longer available... music slowly became the least "file over app" part of my digital life my teenage self understood this better — nothing beats your own collection of MP3s

Exakta Varex VX my grandfather bought in East Germany in the early fifties and gave to me. He just turned 94. I love a waist level camera. It's my favorite way to shoot. The viewfinder is modular so you can swap between the two styles, and the spare stays in the cutest little leather box 🥹

opening files in Obsidian, not sped up

Obsidian Web Clipper now lets you save directly to .md files so you can use the browser extension with any text editor

I thinkkkk this is the last 1.8.x update... fixes a bunch of small bugs — now onto 1.9 🕵️‍♂️

perhaps it's more accurate to call personal notes an ecosystem rather than a garden — the most memetic notes survive if a note is memetic enough it spreads to other notes as a link... if a note is never linked from/to it slowly becomes extinct
