Utterly insane that the fate of millions, even billions of living people is forever handcuffed to the whims of a handful of belligerent idiots with a God complex playing Jenga with humanity for personal gain during the blink of an eye that they're on this planet. The sheer pointlessness of it all.

This is incredibly beautiful storytelling.

Every country is warming. Every country is experiencing more extreme weather events because of climate change, mainly caused by burning fossil fuels. www.ShowYourStripes.info Time to #ShowYourStripes and start climate conversations to prompt actions to reduce emissions, personally & collectively.

Before the 'Columbian Exchange', where Europe & the Americas swapped the products of centuries of agricultural domestication, European food was very different: Italian food without tomatoes. German, Irish food minus potatoes. Spanish food sans peppers. So what DID they have? How about SKIRRET?

One thing you will never think after reading a great book or listening to a great album or seeing a great piece of art is, “I’m really glad this person remained cautious while they were making this and guarded against being perceived as weird.”

Italian singer Adriano Celentano released a song in the 70s with nonsensical lyrics meant to sound like American English — to prove that Italians would just love any American song. It was a hit.

Woman in Tottenham: What is gluten-free bread made of? Man: Dust. And hope.

If you think climate change has gotten worse during your lifetime, you're right and there's a good reason. If you're Gen X like me, more than 3/4 of fossil fuel CO₂ emissions have occurred in your lifetime. Even if you're a Millennial, it's at least half. 📊: @neilrkaye.bsky.social

Does anyone else feel Montreal went from barely spring to, so lush a velociraptor might be lurking in there, ridiculously quick this year?

Smoky air is finally gone so having tea on the balcony with cats. I’m increasingly certain that Bean is annoyed when it’s not hot enough out. Sits stiffly giving me dirty looks. Can’t seem to relax. I think she thinks it’s my fault. Why can I not just summon the heat for her pleasure? (It’s 20C)

Second day back bouldering after a month off due to work, travel, and general busyness. And a very good climb it was! Not for the first time I’m finding time off can be helpful. Popped a callous after 20 minutes though 🤦🏻‍♀️ so called it a day early.

In 1995, divers near the Ryukyu Islands off Japan spotted these elaborate mandala-like art in the sand of the ocean's floor. They were elaborate 2 meter wide sculptures with fluting, shell ornaments placed at ridges, sand sorted by granularity, both consistent in design & unique. (📷: BBC Earth)

Creepy new pastime constantly refreshing the air quality site hoping the long term smoke forecast has shifted. Next week so far looking promising (though by no means normal) 😬
