Went to Winchester Cathedral to see WHALES. The exhibit is about sperm whales but installations throughout cover ghost nets, plastic pollution, marine conservation and whales in general. Watch and listen to video in next post...

Honestly give Dragons of Wales a follow if you haven't already!

Something weird is living in my garden…

Info from DBC WhatsApp group: Residents at Bishop Middleham have asked that birders, who use Fourmarts Lane (instead of parking by the church) to access Castle Lake, not to park on the grass but use the residential street (Broadoaks) for parking. #NEbirding @teesbirds.bsky.social

They were holy houses of the dead once and we should never deride those who still hold them as holy. For among the many things we can say the Long Neolithic is, perhaps one of them is that it offers a continuing sense of the sacred. – Dr. K. Brophy #StandingStoneSunday

I just love this cypress tree tunnel in California 🤩 #photography #trees #landscapephotography #zeldenzomooigezien #eastcoastkin #stunday #USA #California

Sweet little red-capped plovers are not migratory. So, in the middle of winter, when all the other birds have left, at least I still have these guys to photograph 😊

I love this 2019 photo of Zelensky’s first meeting with Trump. This was after Trump had offered a $400 mill US military aid package in a way that seemed to suggest it might depend on Zelensky getting his legal officers to provide “dirt” on Joe Biden’s son’s business activities in Ukraine.

This attitude right here is precisely why I quit pro writing in 2002, from readers and editors. “Your writing is important! I read it every day! And how DARE YOU ask to get paid for your work!”

Thread. PAY ARTISTS AND CREATORS FOR THEIR WORK, THEIR SKILLS AND THEIR TIME. This is not a complicated principle.

When you look at the recent reports of just how scarily many people in creative industries are now posh kids who attended private schools and/or Oxford or Cambridge University, then you look at attitudes like this, you begin to understand how this cycle occurs, and the trap we have got ourselves in.

Nothing scary about this then

Hegseth says firing of top military lawyers was about making sure "they don't exist to be roadblocks to anything that happens."

Great research stuff on Aquatic Warblers here: meldine.lt/en/latest-sc...

Early morning pelican action. I love how their wingtips sometimes gently kiss the surface of the water. Such beautiful creatures. Bald Hill Beach, South Australia.

Oh dear, I find so am I...

Absolutely love this!!

Calling it "DONE" - Just need to wait for ink to dry (dip pen take a while) before properly scanning... This is FOR SALE #forsale BTW #starwars #penandink #mlpeters

I’ve come to learn many people don’t know this!

Posted by @rothschildmd.bsky.social on another platform: “The entire federal government now apparently reports to Elon Musk, who is not the president, doesn't run DOGE according to Trump administration court filings, has no authority to remove federal employees, and tweets all day.”

This is American foreign policy in a nutshell 🤷🏾‍♀️

This is an article that prefigures very accurately what we will be reading about American (and American based) scientists in about ten months. The collapse of the top scientific research network in the world. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Normalized and supported by a lot more people than we like to admit...

Multiple reports of drivers doing spontaneous sieg heil salutes at protesters today, including in one case from someone I know personally. What is being normalized is monstrous and dangerous; every day we step closer to the abyss

Somebody somewhere Needs flowers today

the writing this season is getting… heavy handed

And I am an ally. If you are too, let the world know.

Every artist I know is really struggling right now. Financially, emotionally, their confidence, in general. If you like an artist's work, support them any way you can. Buying their stuff or subscribing to their Patreon is great, but words of encouragement are also incredibly helpful.

It's weird how everyone in the world knows a Nazi salute when we see it, with the notable exception of journalists and their editors.

Just saw a video of Steve Bannon saying the Daily Mail is the left wing media...

My most recent painting in acrylic ink on Canson Mi-Teintes paper. Another of my favourite birds - a wren. Such a little powerhouse when it sings! #acrylicink #inkpainting #bird #birds #goldenplover #BirdArt #nature #wildlife #WildlifeArt #artyear #bskyart

I love Marsh Wrens so, so much and they love taunting me by popping out of reeds, diving back into the most unphotographable recess of the swamp, and singing their wee little hearts out at me.

Divine right of kings...

Watching the Lionesses and they aren't firing on all cylinders ATM😞⚽

If ever a bird was aptly named it has to be the Great Grebe - it was an absolut beast and was close inshore sheltering from the 50mph plus winds in El Calafate, Argentina last week #Birds #birding
