Review for Strange New Moons here: www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Loving this antho from Kayleigh Dobbs & @kozeniewski.bsky.social. A few more stories left but delighted by what I've found, a trope turned inside out - must be a full moon. Starting with the utterly perfect Vargsangen by @marysangiovanni.bsky.social, it continues to deliver - right, back to it 🐺

Leaving #WrexhamWriters meetup in library and look what I spotted on the shelf! I have a week to read it. I think it will only take a day. Feels like a real weekend treat.

Having been a long-time fan of The Wicker Man, and having read the novelisation, I've finally got round to reading the book that started it all - David Pinner's Ritual. About 1/3 of the way in.

#unbridled flesh, slipped from bone, contents eased into a telling of fortune, of wyrd, of the path to be taken by those who remain, a flock of sacrificial lambs waiting in turn to be shorn of humanity, each an offering to the harvest of the wolf moon. #vss365 #unbridle

And ye maye aske yowerself, 'How do Ich werke thys?' And ye maye aske yowerself, 'Wher ys that large destrier?' And ye maye tell yowerself, 'Thys nys nat my fayre castel!' And ye maye tell yowerself, 'Thys nys nat my swift goshawk!'

We were Children of The Hum. We were pylon pilgrims. Each transmission tower was a temporary temple, a station in the electric ley of the land. We marched towards them in a form of rapture that must have scared. the shit out of any outside observers. – Tattoo Labyrinth Dave, ex-Pylon Person

View of the Dee Valley from this morning's walk. Lovely to see blue skies for a change (no pun intended!)

First few pages of Harrowfield written. A new folk horror novel. It's going to be fun, especially if it includes some bizarre, ritual imagery that popped into my head this morning 😁

Those cold fields of winter – ploughed, harrowed and frost-cracked – leak ghosts. To walk them is to walk with escaped temporal shades. As you fill you pockets with flint tools, even an arrowhead, you fill your head with dead whispers. – #DAKilroy

Review catchup today finishing with @rebeccacuthbert.bsky.social's Six O'Clock House. A great collection and new writer (to me) to watch. www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

@sobelobooks.bsky.social just reviewed @catherinemccarthy.bsky.social's Death of a Clown and now Bless the Mother to top of kindle TBR pile :)

Review of @catherinemccarthy.bsky.social's brilliant - and unique - new novella, Death of a Clown. www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Some catching up on TBR. Started this a day by @valwillwrite.bsky.social or two back, finished today. Thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend to those who like a supernaturally vodou-tinged thriller

Literally just finished reading an ARC and will write a review soon. But just to say this is a truly moving and beautiful piece of work. Chester Brown will steal your heart.

Well, I didn't have to wait long for my pitch. Whilst they liked it, turns out they don't want that period. Sigh. But I have a story I want to tell so not a wasted effort!

I have a plan for an Anglo-Saxon/Viking horror novel. It has been pitched (now months to wait) but I intend to write it after doing all that research and outline - something alien to me as a pantser!
