Cheech. Goldthorpe. Gordie Howe.

Former Surrey Mayor Doug McCallum, "The waste is staggering, the abuse is unforgivable, and the leadership is AWOL. “Taxpayers are being fleeced while families struggle to survive an affordability crisis. This stops now.”

Big, bold move by the City of Surrey. Perhaps the first steps toward Surrey and other municipalities withdrawing from Metro Vancouver and forming a South of the Fraser Regional District. www.surreynowleader.com/local-news/surrey-wants-out-of-metro-vancouvers-2050-regional-growth-strategy-7842349

Cool coincidence. An actual Juno Award in Council.Chambers.

Getting in a good, dry walk on the Fraser River before the rain arrives this afternoon.

Sunday Morning. New Westminster.

Kudos to Port Coquitlam Mayor Brad West for reading the 304 page agenda of Friday's Special Meeting and highlighting Metro Vancouver subsidizing big, profitable companies such as Ikea and The Brick. Catherine Urquhart of Global BC, too. As Catherine writes, it's right there in the agenda.

Bat Mitzvah luncheon. The cheese blintzes were outstanding. #Vancouver #Saturday

So, what? We have Facebook groups to keep us up to date on what’s going on locally? FFS, we’re so advanced as a society, yet we destroy the things that can keep us advancing.

I’m a TriCity resident. We’ve lost our local paper of record. Ultra Local stories will now, I guess, only be found out on the Twitter Rumourmill. A sad day for actual news.

At the risk of aging myself, about 25 years ago I got my first ever job: delivering The Record. I remember at the time New West had another local paper, The Newsleader. In my mind it was a big important rivalry and I was proud to be a "Record" guy. Anyway, I guess it's all history now.

Theresa's follow up story. Sad to see the curtain come down on The Record. Reporter Theresa McManus was there to the end and will be missed. All the best with what comes next. www.newwestrecord.ca/in-the-community/time-capsule-treasures-on-view-in-new-west-this-weekend-10262762

Last week reporter Theresa McManus wrote a great story about the time capsule opening. Same day a damaging water main break. These stories take a lot of work. Vital public service lost. www.newwestrecord.ca/in-the-community/photos-big-crowd-celebrates-worlds-tallest-tin-soldier-in-new-west-10240913

The North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant boondoggle is the fast ferries fiasco of Metro Vancouver. Putting the regional government's spending under a microscope is justified. Those responsible for the billions in overruns must be held accountable. So far no one has. Not yet.

Awful news for newspapers, legacy media. www.newwestrecord.ca/local-news/burnaby-now-new-westminster-record-tri-city-news-to-close-10270756

I signed Anmore Grocery's petition. The petition calls for BC Hydro to allow the store to park its canoes and kayaks by the water again. And to lift the requirement for both the customer and the store to each reserve a parking spot. Owners say boat rental business was down 40 per cent last year.

Picnic lunch on the North Beach of Buntzen Lake. #Anmore #Tuesday

Taking a Detour to the North Beach of Buntzen Lake. Down by the water is a cellphone dead zone. But if you hike high enough, you will get a connection. #Anmore #Tuesday

Port Moody City Hall and NewPort Village. Tuesday Morning.

USA coach Mike Sullivan says Quinn Hughes is on his way to Boston as a 4 Nations replacement option for the Americans.

Three #MetroVancouver meetings scheduled this week including a Special Meeting on the next budget. Much material for Directors to read before making big, important decisions down the road. Directors seeking to identify unnecessary spending, scope creep. metrovancouver.org/boards/meeting-calendar

Final score 7-2 for the good guys. Well done Vancouver Giants. Sending fans home happy with a Family Day victory. #Langley #FamilyDay

Several people, including a child, are injured after a plane crashed at Toronto Pearson International Airport Monday afternoon. globalnews.ca/news/1102230...

My vantage point for today's hockey game. Behind the penalty box. Facing the benches. My first time at the Langley Events Centre (LEC). Impressive facility.
