One of the first studies I envisioned as part of my PhD was a study of #CognitiveFlexibility and the risk for #Anorexia nervosa. And only a week after I passed my PhD in 2022, this paper was accepted for publication! 1/7 doi.org/10.1016/j.jp...

I don't think I've *ever* checked a manuscript PDF before submission and NOT found a typo. My downloads folder is littered with files like "journalname-0089.pdf", "journalname-0089-2.pdf", "journalname-0089-3.pdf", "journalname-0089-4.pdf", etc

Over the past few months I have gained lots of new followers, many of whom didn't previously follow me over on X. So I'd like to take the opportunity to re-share some of my publications and tell you more about my work.

Dear funding organisations: pretty please can you consider spreading out the timing of your applications. I was working on 6 grant applications that all opened at the end of January and are all due in the last week of February. 🫠

We are excited to announce the 2025 Body Image & Related Disorders (BIRD) Conference. Please save the date for Friday the 7th of November. The conference will take place in Melbourne, Australia in a hybrid format. More information coming soon #EatingDisorders #BIRD2025

My first day back at work since Christmas and my inbox is flooded with article requests from predatory journals and peer-review requests. New year, same emails.

Excited to share my 3rd PhD paper was published at New Year in Appetite, & provides valuable insights into cognitive & motivational mechanisms that promote binge eating in the community. Read the open access full text here: doi.org/10.1016/j.ap... #CogSci #Cogpsyc #PsychSciSky #BehCog #PhDSky

Things to avoid saying this Christmas: • diet starts in January! • are you going to eat all that? • go on, you can have one drink! • give [other person] a kiss • you’re ruining it for other people • cheer up, it’s Christmas

If you completed a task that evaluated 'cognitive flexibility' and then a self-report questionnaire that was also said to assess 'cognitive flexibility', you might assume that these assessments are equivalent. They are not. 1/5 🧵 doi.org/10.1080/0004...

Over the last two years, I have learnt so so much about co-design and co-production in research! In the spirit of collaboration, I thought I'd share some of the resources and websites that I've found most helpful 1/5🧵

My lab has a large research project investigating what causes #AnorexiaNervsa and maintain symptoms. We are seeking researchers worldwide who are interested in collaborating on the project and sharing data. See the link below for more info

THREAD So your Attention Score went down because people are rage-deleting their Twitter accounts. Why is that happening? Should I be worried? Should I see my doctor? Let's get into what the Attention Score actually is, how it's impacted by posts and deletions, WITH THE HELP OF MEMES. 1/20

📣📣Publication alert! 📣📣 I am excited to share my new protocol paper! We are evaluating CBT-AR as a treatment for #ARFID doi.org/10.1016/j.cc... Big thank you to my co-authors including @swanresearch.bsky.social, @ericaneill.bsky.social, Kamryn Eddy and Jennifer Thomas #EatingDisorders #OpenScience

Starting the week on a good note! A protocol paper I’ve co-authored has been accepted for publication 🎉 I can’t wait to share the work with everyone

It is brilliant to see more #eatingdisorders researchers here! Below is a great starter pack of people to reconnect with

"I'm going to finish this manuscript before Christmas!"

Today I’ve been working on transcribing some interviews I recorded several years ago as part of a study on anorexia nervosa. And I am amazed by the participants. What they are saying is so insightful and interesting! It really is reminding me why I work in eating disorders research.

I'm peer-reviewing a paper and slowly starting to wonder, am I Reviewer 2? 😬 I'm trying to be kind and constructive, but it is very challenging when there are multiple issues with a manuscript!
