I have a friend who works at a safety-net hospital--these are publicly funded hospitals that take care of often low income, under/uninsured, vulnerable patients. Today, he told me he's worried that safety-net hospitals will disappear altogether under this administration. My heart is breaking.

IMO, this is one reason people enter romantic relationships and/or have children. The more depressing aspect of this is if you don't have either, and have a job, at least if something happens to you someone is more likely to notice when you no call; no show. But this is not always fool proof.

I remain fascinated by the expanded child tax credit case study & the implications for leftist policymaking. People received REAL financial benefit from it. It drastically cut child poverty rates and it was rescinded without a real fight. I think about this at least once a week.
