Last fall Niall Ferguson chastised me on Xitter for suggesting Trump could turn fascist, asserting, "fascism was all about state control of the economy and militarisation in preparation for war, pretty much the opposite of Trump's philosophy." Just thinking about that for no reason whatsoever.

I have in general become way less tolerant of ‘crunchy’ bullshit since ascension of people like RFK jr. to actual power. Sorry but the obnoxious Reddit science and logic guys were right, you should be scorned for believing objectively wrong things about consequential issues.

Pritzker: If you're not out there protesting in front of a Republican congressman's office, or out in the street making your voice heard, or calling your friends in another state to have them do it.. then you're not doing what's necessary to put pressure on them to vote the right way.

Dear god let this man cook.

Pritzker: The reckoning is here. And now that this culture of timidity is on display, these same do-nothing Democrats want to blame our losses on the defense of Black people, trans kids, and immigrants, instead of on their own lack of guts and gumption.

Pritzker calls for mass protests and disruption - “Republicans cannot know a moment of peace,” he says, swaying their portraits will one day be put in museums “reserved for tyrants and traitors”

The default Dem position should be that nothing under Trump is valid. Trump didn't honor his predecessors' agreements. He didn't even honor his own trade agreements. He didn't honor Congressional appropriations. He doesn't follow laws. Clean slate. If you rely on him, your loss.

This is extensive, detailed, and absolutely brutal.

He is gonna accidentally kill the pope or set fire to the sistine chapel or something

quick question: why was noem carrying $3,000 in cash? was she just out selling drugs or something?

oops i did it again

Your friendly reminder that it is literally a federal felony punishable by up to five years in prison for the President, Vice President, or any employee of the White House to directly or indirectly ask the IRS to open an investigation into any specific taxpayer.

Dem politicians who are doing something and saying something to oppose Trump’s attacks on American democracy are quickly rising in the estimation of voters. Those calling those efforts a “distraction” or providing cover for Trump are quickly squandering their political capital.

i’m getting van hollen pilled

Q: "How do you respond to Governor Newsom?" Sen. Van Hollen: "I think Americans are tired of elected officials or politicians who are all finger to the wind...Anybody who can't stand up for the Constitution and the right of due process doesn't deserve to lead."

Turns out you can shape the agenda with dramatic action and maybe even shift public opinion. Crazy.

In my particular case, as a semi-well-known individual who's been actively online (i.e., leaving a permanent record) for decades, I'm pretty well fucked if they start rounding up people who don't like pathetic fascist shitworms, so honestly my donation records will be the least of my problems.

Personally, I think it should be front page news for at least a month if a sitting US President is using falsified evidence to try and deny due process to a man who has committed no crime, but that’s just me

Friendly reminder. In the United States, criminals are entitled to due process. Even if you pay hush money rig an election, steal top secret documents, or incite a mob to overthrow the government; no matter how egregious your crimes, you’re entitled to due process.

anyone who writes about or talks about the ongoing impact of racism in the united states is accused of a "victim mentality," but this here is the actual victim mentality

People are entitled to vote for whomever they want, for whatever reasons matter to them. But when people who haven't been victimized complain that they're victims—people who have, in fact, been subsidized—and that this victimization entitles them to hurt others, no one's obligated to indulge that.

Agree w this. But fwiw, I don’t think there are adverse political consequences on this front. And I think I have pretty good antennae for political impact. There’s a pretty broad discomfort w the whole disappearing people w no due process agenda. The escalation from WH is actually the tell on that.

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr, whose father—a prominent scholar in Middle Eastern Studies and a target or rightwing attacks—was assassinated in 1984.

America was founded on the basic protection against unlawful imprisonment. Due process is a fundamental right in our constitution. Denying it or defending those who deny it is unamerican and illegal.

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

RFK Jr.’s lies about autism are disgraceful — and I won't share them to spread misinformation. He consistently undermines public health and reinforces dangerous myths. In Illinois, we stand with those with autism, and I’ll keep fighting for inclusion, science, and the truth.

What a world, now I’m rooting for the ChiComs and for fucking Harvard

this is such good news. i think it is also an opportunity for democrats to state forthrightly that when they win power again everyone responsible for this crime will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law and will face the american people to answer for their lawlessness

fox and the gop have sold latino migrants as all being scary af ms-13 members. its the same thing nazis did with jewish people. repeat: it is the same thing nazis did with jewish people. the. same. thing.

Starting to think that we should sort out a general agreement on trade and tariffs, perhaps housed under some sort of world trade organization. Let's keep the region strong with some kind of of north american free trade agreement. Perhaps a trans pacific partnership could soften China's influence.

if we want to rebuild american institutions and earn back the world’s trust after this we cannot settle for half-measures. lots of people need to go prison. lots more need to be permanently stripped of wealth and power.

I really do think we’re well beyond this point. If you pretend that your differences with friends and coworkers and family are about “politics” when in fact they’re about right versus wrong and fascism versus the rule of law, you’re doing your country a grave disservice.

The United States is currently a country where you can be kidnapped by secret police and shipped off to a slave labour concentration camp without ever being charged with a crime or getting a chance to argue your case in front of a judge. If you think it can't happen to you, why do you think that?

I’m left with a certain sinking feeling that says if the Nintendo delay picks up steam and points a lot of new fingers at Trump, the administration will vindictively start picking apart the whole industry under the guise of “video game violence is destroying the youth” or some such shit.

160 years ago today, the traitor Jefferson Davis and his treasonous cabinet abandoned Richmond, the capital of the Confederacy, spelling the beginning of the end of the Civil War. A day for all patriots to celebrate.
