GENOCIDE In a hunger crisis, “children are most likely to die…because of the ways malnutrition weakens their bodies. Children in hunger crises experience ‘wasting’…as a result of severe malnutrition” www.rescue.org/article/why-... This is Rashaf, starving in Gaza www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/5/...

“This is taxpayer-funded, state-sponsored religious indoctrination. You’ve just got to call it what it is.”

Do you prefer cocaine, snuff, or smallpox scabs? In the 1700s, people first fought smallpox w/ variolation — by blowing dried scabs into noses of the uninfected. 1–2% died but smallpox usually killed 30%+ Would RFK Jr prefer this vax method? Or find it triggering? www.nlm.nih.gov/exhibition/s...

To learn more — much more — about the Trump family's efforts to build a vast cryptocurrency business empire, while dismantling & precluding US govt oversight & regulation, see Molly White’s April 17 article (available in print & audio): www.citationneeded.news/trump-crypto...

Trump corruption news: A UAE govt-backed fund in Abu Dhabi made a $2B deal to use the Trump family crypto firm’s new “stablecoin” to complete a transaction between their state-backed Emirati investment firm MGX & Binance, the largest crypto exchange in the world. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/01/u...

“And I’m like, what do you mean, you ‘do your own research’? You running a double-blind study in your living room, dawg?” - A guy walking ahead of me with his friends on a NYC sidewalk in 2021, also my favorite overheard dialogue of the entire pandemic

If I wanted to destroy what is good about the the US, diminish its prestige and import in the world, and increase the suffering of all people, these are the types of things I would do.

Trump admin is threatened with contempt & sanctions if they block funding to nonprofits giving legal services to undocumented minors who enter the US without guardians. Congress approved this funding until Sept 2027 & Trump signed into law a budget mandating the funding. NYT, full 2-para article:

Since 2000, the US govt produced 6 congressionally- mandated US climate assessments. Experts across the country contributed to these, which 15 agencies reviewed & NASA's Global Change Research Program oversaw. Trump “released” everyone from their roles on 4/28. HAPPENING NOW: A HUGE crowd of protesters march through the streets outside an FBI office in Milwaukee in support of Judge Hannah Dugan (Video: @unraveledpress.com)

AmeriCorps — the domestic version of PeaceCorps — is basically destroyed by Musk/Doge. Libertarians used to argue against such programs, saying the private sector would take over. Nobody even pretends that will happen now. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/17/u... www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2025/...

ActBlue really has enabled more people to donate to Dem candidates & causes across the US. That's great. But money is not actually speech. We also need a party that gives its members VOICE. Despite party reforms 50+ yrs ago, the Dem Party is more oligarchy than democracy. bsky.app/profile/levi...

New article by Jane Mayer(!) on the unscrupulous Ed Martin — interim US attorney in DC & perhaps the most sycophantic of Trump's sycophants. Ed Martin bent both knees for MAGA. Now he's a prosecutor for Trump. He’s never been a prosecutor before, nor taken a case to trial. bsky.app/profile/jane...

I don't even remember the last time I heard something from a politician that was this insightful and well-put. bsky.app/profile/acyn...

Encouraging news for Tesla protesters.

Google's AI scraper/summarizer cited at least one article written by an AI from VisualDx, a medical AI company. A % of AI output is BS. If AI output is partly based on other AI output, which itself is partly based on other AI output, and so on down the line, the % of AI BS will grow & grow, no?

At my library, our digital collections budget is astronomical precisely because of this- we pay multiple times more per ebook than what the average reader pays by design. What should be a godsend to making books easier to read and more accessible instead threatens to swallow our budget whole 🧵

Training AI with copyrighted works isn't just theft or plagiarism. It's worse: it is a fundamental devaluation of creativity. When you steal something, you're not denying its individual value. GenAI is a form of automated exploitation and devaluation of human labor

Fascists are “pronatalist” but: “Noticeably lacking from the pronatalist proposals…were policies that would help families manage the demands of parenting …like childcare subsidies, expanded access to healthcare, & more support for caregivers of disabled children.“ www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

“Expect famine to be coming soon” to Yemen after US airstrike on Yemen’s main oil port (70+ dead, 100+ injured). Hospitals will close, water access & farm output will drop, food prices will rise. As in 2015, the Houthi govt will be fine, and even gain more recruits. theworld.org/segments/202...

Journal editors are now receiving such letters from the US government. The entire scientific community must unite to support our journals in flatly resisting such illegal interventions.

What do you know about felony murder? “You don’t need to prove a person’s mens rea—“guilty mind”—or even, in some cases, to establish that the accused was at the scene of the crime.” Read Sarah Stillman’s Pulitzer winner: Scroll & click “What Makes A Murderer?“ www.pulitzer.org/winners/sara...

Sarah Stillman reports on a sweeping and uniquely American legal doctrine: felony murder, which sends thousands of people to prison for life for murders they didn't commit.
