Now watching! On a bit of a Fritz Lang kick, hopefully I'll like this better!

Anime Review: MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM GQuuuuuuX -BEGININNG- is a theatrical experience Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- sees Studio Khara work their magic on the standard bearer for mecha anime. Also it looks really cool.

Wrote about a great horror film that seemed to do an awful lot to predict and explore our cult of personality-addled, post-truth society — 50 years ago. I'd never seen the Wicker Man (inexcusable), and it exceeded all expectations. www.bloodinthemachine.com/p/the-great-...

Best Oscar night in a long time. Please bring Conan back next year

No surprise here. Nickel Boys still unquestionably the best of the nominees, followed by The Brutalist but I enjoyed Anora and hopefully we see more of Madison in other films

This seemed like a lock, really happy for her. She gives an incredible performance

Sean Baker is having a great night

Cillian Murphy notwithstanding, very poor run in this category over the last few years

Justice for Sebastian Stan, who gave 2 of the best performances of the year

Hell yeah! Fantastic score

[willem dafoe unprompted] now, this cookie monster. [toothy smile] what a creature, what a lust. it consumes him. [crosses legs] he’s really a tragic figure.

Good win. It was gonna be this or Seed of the Sacred Fig and I'm happy either way

In a world where Nickel Boys doesn't get nominated for Best Cinematography (a bad world), The Brutalist winning makes sense. Its a gorgeous film in its own right Kinda hoped Nosferatu or Dune would pull off an upset, but this is still good

Morgan Freeman pays tribute to Gene Hackman at the #Oscars

Genuinely losing it at all the incredible people we lost last year. Lynch still hurts

Happy to see Dune: Part Two sneaking in a couple wins

Let's gooooo! Much deserved

“We’re halfway through the show, so now’s the time for Kendrick Lamar to come out and call Drake a pedophile!” - Conan O’Brien during the #Oscars  See the full winners list: bit.ly/OscarWins25

a huge congratulations to Zoe Saldaña for her Oscar win for AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER !!!!

Zoe Saldaña deserves an Oscar, she's incredible. But man... Emilia Pérez was not it

feels weird to be watching an Oscars where the host, the writers, maybe even everyone involved actually seem to love movies. and it's funny, they're not just taking tedious, mean-spirited potshots at movies for the entire runtime. pleasantly surprised by how much I'm enjoying this

This is the first time in years that the Oscars have felt like they actually like movies and movie history. Please keep it up!

007 in: Memoriam

Tearing up at the funeral for James Bond 🥲

I liked Conclave, I thought it was very entertaining. But man, I don't see how any element of it beats out Nickel Boys or Sing Sing in this category

In a just world, Nickel Boys would sweep

I see Bowen Yang continues to be the most unfunny person ever

This is one of the few awards I was really rooting for. Incredible performance, well deserved

Didn't love this. Feels like the ending is a cop out and the early Freudian themes don't seem like they have much pay off, at least on first viewing But man is Edward G. Robinson amazing. Incredibly endearing character from the jump who feels believably terrified in the circumstances

Now watching!

I really loved Gundam GQuuuuuuX. Solid introduction to this reimagining of the One Year War and its outcome. Design work is incredible, can't wait to get models of some of these Mobile Suits. The overall mystery is extremely interesting. Can't wait for more

Still very long!

The recent success of Anyone But You, Twisters and Hit Man shouldn't overshadow the fact that Set It Up is delightful

Holy shit this is amazing

Now watching!

Some movie buying for the weekend!

All the characters in Watson sound like verses in Lonely Island's Incredible Thoughts "What if twins dated the same person?" "What if an Asian woman had a southern accent?" "What if a doctor... was actually sick?"

Probably no Patreon post this weekend, or at least one that won't be on time. Currently writing up a storm on Animal Pound, a review that's going to be almost twice as long as the Helen of Wyndhorn piece, because oh boy... is there a LOT to talk about.

One of the finest actors to ever do it, a great performance and a delightful film
