From @benjaminwittes.bsky.social, earlier today: “At some point, the contempt becomes not merely that of the client agencies but that of the lawyers who are filing these documents. Lawyers are easier to sanction than federal agencies…” www.lawfaremedia.org/article/the-...

Abrego Garcia v Neom Filed over an hour late : storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Wouldn't it be nice if every news outlet that covered the Bukele Oval Office meeting noted: District court wrote: Abrego Garcia "has never been charged with or convicted of any crime."⤵️ Fourth Circuit: The government presented "NO EVIDENCE" of MS-13 affiliation. Abandoned argument before court. ⤵️

President Trump may soon try to invoke the “Insurrection Act” to trigger the ability to use the military for domestic law enforcement. Today’s “One First” offers an overview of the statute; how it’s been used; and what might happen if Trump tries to use it now: www.stevevladeck.com/p/142-five-q...

Short 🧵re Kilmar Abrego Garcia Filings by Govt today: A, Status update B, Opposition to Plaintiff’s motion for futher relief which sought inter alia, discovery re contractual relations concerning the detention of persons designated by USA

Gift Article 🎁 "The Confrontation Between Trump and the Supreme Court Has Arrived" by Adam Serwer SCOTUS is just as afraid to confront him as others are too, if not more so. #Garcia #ElSalvador #Immigration #dueprocess #SCOTUS

Another thing to point out about this statement from Trump: Trump refers to people who were removed to El Salvador as “alien enemies” — but the government has claimed in court that some people it sent there, including Kilmar Abrego Garcia, were *not* removed pursuant to the Alien Enemies Act.

JUST IN: Suit over a Trump executive order I believe was heretofore unscathed: targeting the International Criminal Court. 2 human rights advocates who collaborate with prosecutor's office say the EO violates their First Amendment rights. Doc: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Bring 👏 back 👏 circuit riding 👏 but at the district court level 👏 If John Roberts really is the institutionalist he’s been made out to be, he needs to see the government’s repeated shenanigans before the district court up close and personal

This is a concession by the U.S. government that its “arrangement” with El Salvador is irrevocable. To me this has to be grounds to argue that the arrangement itself is unconstitutional under the Fifth and Eighth Amendments

NEW: The Trump administration has now filed its status report on Kilmar Abrego Garcia. It says that he is alive and being held in CECOT pursuant to the “domestic authority of El Salvador”
