I started a new project in Unity, got inconvenienced, and then decided to try out Godot again for the first time since 2018 instead. Already quite impressed with how many templates there are out there nowadays. #gamedev #godot

How did I not realise until now how great Faith No More are? It looks like I'm going on an album binge-listen now then.

Kinda feel like I want to go on a writing retreat but instead of a novel it would be making a game. Need to travel a bit. UK winter just isn’t it

Looking at what to do next to boost my job portfolio/have some fun. I feel a UE project is needed, but one thing I dislike about that is the lack of a web player, which means nobody will ever play what I make. Maybe I could use UE for Fortnite despite never having played it? Good idea or bad?

Quite funny that I spent 550 quid on a graphics card but am now primarily using it to play thirty year old games (minus bomb rush cyberfunk).

Games I’ve completed in 2025 so far: bomb rush cyberfunk, jet set radio future, banjo kazooie and perfect dark. Working through a bit of Turok, Conker BFD and the OG tomb raider right now. Then, I’ll get back to work :p

Well hello there. Been radio silent lately taking a break and actually playing some games rather than developing, something I don’t seem to get the chance to do a whole lot nowadays.

Reading through N64 magazine circa 2001 and came across a Treasure game I've never heard of... Sin and Punishment? Time for a bit of Saturday night vidya then. Need a bit of brainless enemy zapping right now, tbh.

Damn, just found out that Lycos and Angelfire still exist. Definitely a blast from the past.

New blogpost: Adding new tower types and mechanics to the game. Was a bit of a close call, I have to work a little more ahead again. quakatoo.com/logs/2025/ja... #raylib #gamedev #tutorial #C

Big milestone! "Final" update on my RPG demo written in C++ and #raylib. It's all feature-complete now. So, minus some polish, this is it :). Made my own UI library, pathfinding system, asset pipeline, dialog/quest system with a markup language, + more. It's been tough but fun! #gamedev #indiedev

I need to play this again somehow. Absolutely loved this game as a kid.

I should probably make the name of this quest object a bit more aesthetically appealing :D. #gamedev #raylib

So agonisingly close to meeting my “definition of done” for this RPG demo. Need to make videos and write some documentation afterwards, too. #gamedev

Bug fixing to a bit of Aphex Twin.

I keep saying that one day I'll learn regex, but I've been saying that since about 2017.

Instead of finishing this demo, I decided to swap the event system for my own version, which was pretty painful. It was worth it in the end. I err.. think. It looks less verbose at least! Maybe :).

Been trying to make my quest system scriptable rather than linking all the events in C++. I ended up defining functions in the backend that you can call with arguments from the quest file, and it seems to be working pretty well. I feel like I need to implement Lua, though :p #gamedev #indiedev

I changed the song out for "In the Hall of the Mountain King" and I think it works really well. Makes me chuckle.

Woops. I let this die. I'll just name 13 more games that influence me then: 8. Tetris Effect 9. Dungeon Keeper 10. C&C Generals 11. Warcraft III 12. Undertale 13. Baldur’s Gate 3 14. PaRappa The Rapper 15. Ikaruga 16. Fallout NV 17. Hades 18. Hotline Miami 2 19. Final Fantasy VII/I 20. Sonic 3

The lack of sunlight in the UK is genuinely absurd.

Happy new year! 🥳
