NatAlliance has a take on government layoffs. 🇺🇸

Elon is destroying the $TSLA brand.

Everyone hates HR departments everywhere. DOGE has become the worst of the worst HR departments.

The good news keeps coming. It’s a shame the HHS director doesn’t believe in vaccines and DOGE just fired hundreds of CDC scientists and got rid of bird flu experts. What could go wrong?

WSJ: "Staci White said she voted for President Trump because she wanted lower prices and to stop fentanyl from coming into the U.S. Now, with widespread federal layoffs and expected cuts, she worries her family will lose their house if her partner is laid off from his government-adjacent job."

Hearing Georgia state (not federal) employees worried they could be soon laid off in a DOGE like rampage from state Republicans. No idea if this could or would occur. But it seems very likely these federal layoffs could hurt confidence and spending. Potentially by A LOT.

The best-run companies give generous severance pay and insurance to those they lay off -- realizing it's a failure of the employer that they had to cut costs. They give notice via HR reps in person not by email or phone, and give considerable aid to help finding new jobs. It's not done chaotically.

A reminder, from February 25th, 2022:

Recession forecast from a very well respected labor economist. It’s not the consensus on Wall Street but worth taking seriously.

Truly this is the gang that couldn’t shoot straight.

I think much of the MSM coverage of tariffs and DOGE and the Jan. 6 pardon group has been quite good and groundbreaking. My question: Where was any of that coverage prior to November election? The actual Trump plans got relatively little coverage.

Survey: Musk's welcome rapidly wearing out with public. Also, "Overall, 13 percent of surveyed Americans want Musk to have 'a lot' of influence on the Trump administration, while 25 percent say they want 'a little' influence and 46 percent say they want 'none at all.'" thehill.com/homenews/adm...

This is the payments system that Elon Musk now has access to. Must listen with @nathantankus.bsky.social podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

Red alert for financial markets. Politicize this data and we’re blind on the economy.
